At Trump’s inauguration celebration, Elon Musk made a gesture that sparked controversy. In Germany, the extended arm salute it’s outright illegal. But what’s the history behind this gesture, and why is it banned?

  1. So it’s not really the same, since the original salute was perpendicular to the forward facing body, closed fingers, and didn’t include a chest tap.
    Elon tapped his chest first, arm is parallel with his chest, and his hand is open.

  2. You guys are reading way too much into the gesture in an effort to find something negative. He was making a heartfelt gesture out to the crowd. Nothing more than showing his love to a cheering crowd.
