Uganda to start construction of SGR connecting to Kenya

The railway, which will link Kampala to the port of Mombasa in Kenya, is expected to cut the cost of transporting cargo by almost half, compared to transporting by road.

  1. Uganda should build, simultaneously, the section from Kampala to Mpondwe at the border with DR Congo. This way, when the Kenya SGR eventually reaches Malabar at the Uganda /Kenya border, there will be a seamless connection all the way to DR Congo. Much time has been lost already, since the EAC members launched the SGR dream in Mombasa, May 2017.

Congratulations Uganda will finally start on its project, and more so, they chose an electrified railway system

  2. Kenya's SGR is nowhere to connect with Uganda's SGR as it has Stuck in Nairobi. Uganda should have planned its SGR to connect with Tanzania SGR first because Tanzania SGR has reached Mwanza Region which is close to Lake Victoria and Uganda border.

  3. I love my Ugandan people. You guys just need to separate culture from how you do business. Ugandans let the most respected person lead instead of the most capable. That's a cultural problem.
