THE ISLAND OF MOZAMBIQUE (MOZAMBIQUE)

An island steeped in history that gave it’s name to a nation, this is Mozambique Island. Side note, it was also the first place I played the bagpipes in Mozambique!

Thank you to Amine Kujua for the music, Cabaceira Pequena for the morning concert and to Ilha Blue & Coral Lodge for looking after us. Our Mozambique trips also wouldn’t have been…

  1. why do you say, "Arab traders and Portugeuse colonisers" when in fact you could just as easily say
"Arab coloizers and Portugeiese traders" tsk tsk tsk lazy history

  2. "considering the short distance, we figured it would be an easy trip"

    🤣🤣🤣

how traveling in Africa is not the same as traveling anywhere else.
idk if you went to Ibo Island, but the 100kms from Pemba to the boat takes about 8 hours in the back of a truck.
I just looked it up to make sure my memory is right, and even the tourist website says the bus takes "6-12 hours" and that "in theory, the boat waits for the bus".
When we got there the boat was full and we were going to have to camp on the beach, but luckily some rich older French tourists showed up who had chartered their own boat and we charmed them and they pitied us and took us with them.
sometimes people ask what I did "traveling in Africa" and it's nice to know that people who have done it also get it- you travel. that's it. you move from one place to another and then rest.

  3. Hi Ross, thanks for the great video! I'm planning on traveling to the Island later in the year- could you provide a little more detail on your travel arrangements? I assume you flew in before bussing over to the island? Thanks in advance!
