In July 2021, riots and looting in South Africa’s Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces left more than 300 dead, and extensive damage. The unrest didn’t spread to the rest of the country, but it brought questions of ongoing inequality and racial justice to the fore. One team of neighbourhood volunteers think they have the answer.

  4. Great piece. I am inspired by everyone in this clip, especially Nawaal who has a great outlook on life, meaningful work, and personal growth. I also think that the trash pickup is a great initiative to have come out of covid. I hope that the problem with plastic in streets, as well as the oceans, continues to spread awareness and motivate change in these communities.
