Well it’s a new year. And in just two weeks, a new American Administration as well.

What kind of impact will President-Elect Trump’s policies likely have on natural resources, the “real things” that power the global economy?

To find out, we’re fortunate to be…

  1. Sorry, but Rick is WRONG when he says: "Wind and solar, which is to say intermittent power, only works if you have the ability to generate power when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. And that peaking power is primarily natural gas oriented. So to the extent that you're going to take the grid above 30% or 35% reliance on intermittent energy, the only that you can do it, in a way that guarantees energy when and where it's needed, is by building substantial natural gas peaking generation and substantial natural gas storage and transmission. … That's just a fact." FALSE Although early in the adoption curve, BESS grid-scale storage solutions ARE an alternative, and they are coming to market at an exponential growth rate, as a viable alternative to building new nat gas peaker plants (not to mention the transmission infrastructure required to get the gas to new generation plants). I love Rick, but these days he spends more time regurgitating old knowledge than on research and keeping up with new developments, particularly in the energy space.

  2. Rich, very successful pompous ass. He's just so above it all. He is a citizen of the world and can't be bothered with the little people, like us.

"Newsome has superb political instincts. Superb politician." .

Actually you could have run a box of hair that is lists it as "Democrat" on the California ballot and that would have won. Then again he calls him Governor Gruesome.
Everyone is beneath Rick. He sounds just like Robert Friedland.

  3. Adam, stop posting shorts of you doing dead lifts. This is the stupidest thing I can imagine. Good luck with your back problems later. Same stupidity as your bravado hot pepper challenge thing. Grow up dude. Good podcast BTW. Keep up the good work.

  4. Rick Rule never faces tough questions about his opinions in any social media, that`s mostly because his probably slightly autistic personality makes him never appear again. Thus he can`t handle hard fact based criticism. Which is astonishing given the fact of his hard criticism of opponents. For example he never answers the questin how to deal with highly hazardous nuclear waste for 100.000 years. This question unanswered by any government of the world until date. On top at many youtube chanals, any criticism of Rule is been deleted by it`s owners.

  5. Thank you for this interview with Rick. The interviews with him are definetly one of my favorites.
By the way which is the email adress where we should ask when he is coming back 😉
I am lazy that is why i would not write every day 😉

(i watched the video on the phone that is why my comment and thumbs up came after i got back home from travel)

  6. It occurred to me as I listened to this that the Fed has increasingly lost control. The crisis has matured beyond their ability to do anything about it and the markets are now defying their pathetic efforts.

  7. I tried to listen, but it became distracting after this guy kept trashing Trump and then said he assumes Trump has no plan and he’s just going to assert his will. It’s arrogant and short sighted to assume that. Likewise, name me one politician who hasn’t tried to assert his will on the American people. We just lived through four years of Biden doing that very thing.

    More POMBOY!!!

  8. At the 26 minute 50 mark Rick said that he couldn’t bring himself to vote for Paris or Trump. He can always tell you who he doesn’t like, but I’ve never once heard him say who he would like to see as president of the United States. In other words, in the realities that we live in who is your best pick right now?. He never shares that, which seems a little petulant.

  9. I am surprised Rick Rule cannot remember even recent history (last 3 months). When he says "why didn't the Democrats nominate someone who could beat Trump?", doesn't he remember that the Democratic voters didn't get to nominate ANYONE. Lyin' Biden – who said he would only stay for one term, but then decided he like the power too much – became the nominee but then bowed out and then the position of Democratic presidential candidate was handed to Kamala Harris at the convention. No states ever voted for her to be the candidate. Also, as I live in Oregon, I never have a choice in a presidential candidate. By the time Oregon votes in the primaries, it's already decided who the presidential candidates are. No Oregon vote ever matters in a presidential primary.

  10. Rule needs to do a bit more study on oil in California. To get a drilling permit in California, a company needs to have a bond to cover environmental problems. I explore in the San Joaquin basin, we just had to get a bond before applying for a drilling permit from CalGEM. Rather than the Stevens sandstone, I believe Rule is referring to the unconventional Monterey Shale play, so far an uncommercial play. The USGS estimates billions of barrels of undiscovered conventional oil reserves in the onshore basins, and offshore the BOEM estimates billions of undiscovered barrels of conventional oil. Discovered but not yet produced oil onshore is in the hundreds of millions barrel range.

  11. Rick I really like your point of view I have to say though that it's a little self-serving for you to assume after what the president's been through that he doesn't have a plan

  12. Nobody had enough sense to make sure Rick Rule and Adam Taggart have a basic understanding of English grammar and remembered basic subject-verb agreement?

  13. Huge fan of Rick Rule here!!

  14. People are sick how expensive things are from groceries to filling up their car.
There was a time a few years ago I believed in the promises of green energy but no longer.
They have not delivered and all I see is it is getting harder and harder to maintain my
    simple lifestyle.

  15. Smart guy, stuck in the same dog and pony show. Bitcoin is better than gold; just look at the charts, what hedge funds, black rock, sovereign funds are doing. Gold’s best days are behind us. Rule, has a bank that lends against gold,of co purse he’s going to push gold
