  1. I wanted to add a few of my own observations on your fixes to these characters – Please be advised that what follows are the opinions of a man w/o a single shred of artistic understanding, training, talent, skill, or anything remotely approaching 'knowledge' of what constitutes 'art'. I am just a 44 y/o gamer w/ opinions – not all of which are based on 'facts', or even reason – but alas, they are my own:

I notice a couple fundamental qualities in your renditions of the fixed characters. The most stark changes in my view is your use of shading – almost more so than actual color. I got the thinking about this and I began to realize the really weird way they used colors on these characters. The relatively small changes you made translated to a much better perception of believable characters in my mind. And, truth be told, these characters are god-awful, horrific abominations – amalgamations of characters that cross the Sci-Fi spectrum, inexplicably mashed together and shoehorned into this game world in which I imagine absolutely nobody wants to live.

My words may seem harsh in a way, but I genuinely mean every word I say. These characters are not good. There is no originality here. These are not the brainchildren of a rational thought, creative vision, or the product of passionate video game designers and developers. It's astounding to me that this took 8 years to put together, because, essentially, this looks like a lazy cash grab to me. A wokie, lazy, cash grab. If it were possible for a video game itself to be afflicted with some kind of dunning Kruger thing, this is it, the poster child.

I like different forms of entertainment. I especially like music. I like many different genres of music, but I'm mostly a metalhead and I also enjoy underground rap. I can appreciate genres of music that I don't even necessarily like – I know that somebody put their heart and soul into making that music even if I don't appreciate it personally.

I'm not into lots of new games. Especially hero shooters. But, I can sure appreciate that millions of people do and it makes me happy to know that a lot of people get enjoyment from them.

Concord, to me, represents most of what's wrong with the industry these days. Hell, it may have even started out as a pretty decent game, but as it went trend chasing – which is about as smart as trying to catch a fart in a windstorm – it went from possibly a decent game to a pandering, soulless, cash grabbity shit show.

Thank you for attempting to make some cosmetic fixes to this game, if for nothing else but to make a point – and important point. Developers, take notice. You have earned my sub 10 times over and I appreciate all the work you put into this. Again, thank you.

  2. They had self imposed woke limitations. To be super woke all the characters need to be fat, ugly, as gender neutral as possible. Im sure the backstory for half of them is that they're gay or LGVBTQ+++. The other half are fleeing an evil orange man seeking a communist paradise.

  3. Yeah you definitely made the yellow robot thing worse. I think it's because you tried to apply character design logic to what is essentially a trash can with legs.

  4. For a game whose trailer evoked like space pirate/mercenary, why are all the characters in formless, puffy, plastic looking pastels? 😅

I’m glad I found this video. The designs in Concord have been bugging me and I needed someone to voice what makes me uncomfy looking at these characters.

  5. Even though I no longer play it, I will always remember TF2’s design for 1. guiding your eyes to the center of the characters and their weapons/role and 2. describing something about the character’s personality in a non-intrusive way.

  6. What’s absolutely insane is that out of all the videos that shit on this game with brain dead attempts to try and say that it was DEI and wokeness that caused it to fail, is that videos like this that truly delve and present the very real and severe issues with concord cut sooooooo much deeper than right-wing bullshit spewing

  7. But virtue-signaling wokesters, basement-dwelling activists, feminazis, reverse-racists, h0m0ph0be-labelers, beauty/hunk hating ugl!es, and overall ignorant hyp0crites were supposed to make this game profitable? The developers created & marketed this game for them! Why TF did it fail miserably?! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

  8. you didn't get it.. we don't look at our own character during the entire combat.. we only look at other player characters instead..
which this ugly design pissed everyone off and led them to start brutally shooting each other..
that was the point of this ugly design..☠☠

  9. 32:57 Oh god no, it’s nowhere near being cool, this is actually one of the designs I hate the most, it’s terrible. The silly little glasses, the puffy hair & shoulders, the coat with the big tails, it’s so bad.

  10. 28:41 Oh yea, by just changing the boots to gold it makes this look so much better, the original boots being a completely different colour is just par for the course with these people. Companies out there need to take note of the designers of this game, and never, ever, ever, ever, ever hire them as a designer ever again.

  11. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game with such terrible character designs, it’s like they went to a classroom of 9 year olds and told them to draw character designs for a game set in the future. They’re so bad, soooo bad, it’s hard to believe these were made by an actual gaming company.

  12. You really came across as a prick.

This is not an insult. It's is just educational for any other aspiring dev YouTubers to know how to not be so unlikable on screen.

Also, I don't know how much validity the design rules you put out are because the "after" didn't always look better to me. But at least you taught something.

  13. I know a lot of people criticized it but I don’t think the body type would be such an issue if they had just dressed them in an attractive manner. The costumes are just abhorrent and completely takes away from any potential they could have had.
