I went on a Gorilla Trek 2 years ago… Im American but had Rwandan Residency and only had to pay $500 instead of $1,500 and because of a payment glitch i actually went alone instead of a group of 8… so $500 for a solo Gorilla Trek. Deal of the life. I saw the Amahoro Family and it was amazing… my videos were much better than this too… but Yea Rwanda is a really amazing Country

I’ve been to Rwanda and did this trek it was absolutely phenomenal!
My brother and I went Sept, 2022, ole farts from Florida. We crossed over to Uganda with our tour guides, the fee is 700 per person. Our first trip to Africa, never felt in danger, the country prides itself on having a clean city, everyone was very friendly. I have been many places around the world, and did not have any idea how much the trip and the one short hour with the Gorillas would affect me, the trip was amazing, if you ever have ever thought about this trip, by all means go, it is truly one of the never forget trips.
this feels too much as a PR video, would be better to let local people speak too instead of a full only white people frame spoon-feeding us what is good and bad. (white guy, 26)

I am not an expert on endangered animals but I think conservationists sometimes make erroneous assumptions based on what they observe. For example, the panda eats mainly bamboo but would this be true if their habitat had not been reduced and if there were no humans on the planet to prevent them migrating to other places. The same can be said for mountain gorillas which have a more varied diet than the panda but even so, they would have a far greater selection of foods available to them if humans did not exist. Perhaps if their geographical areas of conservation could be expanded to include other foods, like lower mountain slopes and valley areas for the mountain gorillas, then they might eventually collonized these areas and use the new diet available to them.
That is a wonderful start, however they must have more habitat! Humans have treated the animal world with such selfish indifference. Also 10% sounds a little light. The people living there and the government must understand what riches they have in the wildlife, but I can understand that people need to eat and the ground is rich for growing food. Also shout out to Ellen Degeneres for her donation. Where are the other rich celebrities hearts??
Before Gorillas in the Mist, I remember reading about Dian Fossey in National Geographic. Before she was murdered, she wrote several articles for the Geographic over a period that spanned more than 10 years. I am convinced that her work and these articles are what saved the mountain gorillas.
