Thank you Sis! New Subbie here. You spoke nothing but facts with compassion, empathy and understanding🥰🖤
This is what i don't understand about American born black people calling themselves African Americans. How can you be African if you were born in America? You are nothing like African blacks except color, thats where it ends
How we could possibly be suckered into thinking there's a home for us still in Africa?! ARE THERE THAT MANY OF US THAT DUMB?! (Obviously).
When my people were putting rockets into space, your people were not even able to build your own railroads, or deal with boll weevil infestations.
Watching too much Wakanda.
Why are African Americans going someplace where they don’t know the language, the customs or any real traditions and expecting them to accept you with open arms?
We need language schools in the US similar to Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, and Russian schools. We need schools on the weekend that teach African-Americans an African language. Black churches should be doing this all over the country. If not, what are you really doing to help the African-American community?
I really respect you for being honest but the truth is we don’t feel welcome in American as well. It’s goes both ways!!!
There is one thing I do have sympathy for regarding the descendants of black slaves in the USA. It is not the struggle to be accepted on equal terms. Every human wrestles with that to some degree. I speak of a different loss of identity. The people brought here in chains lost more than their freedom. They were robbed of their cultural identity. They were orphaned from their legacy, forced into a different lifestyle entirely, different food, dress, language, climate, traditions, plants, wildlife, etc. And they were denied full access to their new environment. As memory of the past faded, there was less of their heritage they could impart to their children. Others who came voluntarily were not so forcibly and abruptly severed from their history. We could end slavery and restore freedom but not that loss of ancestral heritage. I think that loss is still felt in the present day.
Bottom line is living in a place run by white people is always gonna be better than one run by blacks.
If you want to connect the first step is to learn the language.
Africa is a BIG continent. You were forced to leave an entire continent??
It doesn't matter the country, immigration officials are almost always haughty and rude.
Wow what a concept. A born and raised American expects to show up in another country and be allowed to stay without lots of red tape. I'm 4th generation of people who came from somewhere in Germany. That does not entitle me to a homecoming party in the Fatherland.
That woman at 2:50 is damn beautiful
Is the victim card not accepted in Africa then?
Everybody see black americans as white.
They speak English there so why not connect with those. You don’t need to connect with people who can’t speak English or learn their language
All should go back to native countries be soverign and rebuild
Africa is going to be taken by those who started it all. Sadly this is truth.
And African Americans generally think "Oh they look like me, they must have the same culture." But they're ignorant of the fact that there are so many African cultures even within one country. South Africa has 11 official langauges, if we take away the "white" languages of English and Afrikaans – that's 9 different languages that come with their own people and culture (Not including the language groups not on the list, like those of the Khoisan)
Price hikes for foreigners are nothing new. In South Africa, if you want to go places, like up table mountain or to certain national parks and museums, South Africans will get discounted rates for being locals. But if you travel to Asia (I live in Cambodia now) there are always 2 prices, one for locals and one for foreigners (if you speak the language youo can generally get local prices).
Anyone know why the father Fani Willis, Atlanta DA prosecuting Trump, was forced (his words) to leave South Africa?
Thanks for enlightening me. I'm an older African American woman and have been to at least two North African countries but not to sub Saharan Africa yet. I understand what you said about the veneer of neocolonialism over the true African culture. And the reactions to those with lighter skin I experienced in Paris. My friends and I met two young African women of our faith, and I saw how they would show greater deference to my lighter skinned friends. Too, my mother went on vacation and there was a lighter skinned traveler with her group. The Africans kept declaring to her that she was White. Believe me, there are those in the States who have historically been brain-washed this way as well. I suppose it will take a few decades more before we get over the psychological complexes that are rooted both in neocolonialism and slavery.
Go back to the US, nobody will scam you there😂😂😂
We dont want you, they dont want you, ??? Where you gonna go???
