Zambia endures 20+ hour power cuts as Lake Kariba's water levels drop, impacting electricity supply


Zambia is going through one of its worst droughts in decades.
Low water levels at Lake Kariba mean the country can’t produce enough electricity.
The country’s Energy ministry says the power plant it feeds could shut down within weeks.
Neighbouring Zimbabwe is also in trouble.

  1. The Kariba dam was meant for a small population then and not for the tenfold increase in populations niw plus the industrial expansion.We have enough water to have a power station in each Province and its what government need to start investing in.
    We have felt the negative impact of load shedding in all aspects of life.

  2. Have y'all ever noticed that Aljarzerra almost always has only negative newz for the Southern African region. They almost never show the good stuff, it's like they work for the West 🤔😶

  3. Zimbabwe and Zambia presidents are busy pushing Russian and USA agendas instead of uniting to alleviate poverty and foster regional development + security. They are concerned about bringing war to the ever peaceful region.
