Woman's Fake $24k Check Scam Fails Miserably

On September 26, 2023 in Florida, officers responded to a call from a pawn shop regarding a woman attempting to cash a fraudulent check for $23,892. When they arrived, the woman told them that the check was from the US Treasury for “lost wages.” This is body-cam footage of the events that followed.

  1. These scammers literally have the dumbest explanations behind these checks. They never have any proof of a paper trail, it’s just stupid. Even when legit honest people try cashing big checks like this at a bank they will verify it because it is such a large amount. So I don’t understand what makes these people think they can really take these checks in a bank and they gonna freely give them the money..

  2. When they ask ; "Do want to speak to us without a lawyer, reply "NO!" She needed/needs someone to help her process life. Why would she go to a PAWN shop to cash a check?!
Please Auntie help her negotiate life. She thought she could cash a 24k check? I feel sorry for her.
