Winston was as bad as FOR INDIA as hitler was for jews. Everyone here is thanking him for what he did during WW2. This seems very funny to me because no one knows that what disaster he had caused in India especially in Bengal during those days. HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF 3 MILLION INDIAN. May be he freed many from the nazis BUT HE WAS A FOOD SNATCHER who snatched food from millions of Indians , JUST TO PILE UP AND FOR THE SAKE OF EXTRA FOOD SECURITY FOR HIS SOLDIERS.

No one can question the importance of his tenacity and skill during the early days of the war. I don't think his longevity in politics is anything to admire however. Politicians get very used to the power bestowed upon them very quickly, and it often requires a crowbar to remove them.
He was hated by half the country but proved to be a good war leader.

Churchill ignored his generals and was responsible for the death of thousands of our men. Ask the Aussies and New Zelander soldiers about him.

A typical product of privilege . Seemingly aademically weak he was allowed to attend educational establishments that he was not really qualified for . He was anti democracy and against workers rights . He even had striking miners fired upon . His drunken belligerence was useful in facing up to Hitler , so I suppose despite his many faults he did respond well to the challenges of WW2 . That he became a master of the written word after such a poor academic beginning would suggest that his background made him lazy and that when he eventually applied himself his true academic worth was realised . Not a likable character but effective when needed by his country .
