  1. AI on iPhone can not be a revolutionary in just 1 year. It would probably take 2 years. 1 first generation is just a tease, and then the second generation is something functional or even a third generation. Like iPhone 3G. That was a 3rd generation and made a difference.

  2. I was thinking the same… iPhone 16 is scheduled to be released in sept with AI fully integrated, but ios 18 is far from being ready. How is Apple going to manage to rush this? Are they going to post pone iphone 16?

  3. I’m not expecting that ai would be Wow! It is just kinda exaggerated. Yes it can do summarize, auto reply, change chat to many kind of formats but who needs this? I thought apple integrates with chatGPT and iphone takes all the data and features of chatGPT but it’s sh*t

  4. i do love the imessage summaries. it’s a great little touch. also the flashlight has some cool little updates as well. beam spread specifically

  5. AI being only on 15 has nothing to do with the cpu.

AI requires A LOT of ram and apple has always kept ram to its bear minimum. The 15 is the first one with 8GB. Probably because they knew where they were headed.

Still, 8 for AI is as equally laughable.
Maybe this is also why it takes time, trying to compress the model to fit

I’m betting the 16 is going to have a huge ram bump and maybe a small bump for the NPU.

Though most cpus in the market run Round 35 which is more than enough for anything you can run on 8-16 GB models

  6. You have forgotten one crucial thing. The European Union. It has enough influence in the meantime that even Americans are forced to look beyond their own national borders. I suspect that 18.0 without Apple Intelligence will be introduced in the EU with the new iPhone and 18.1 may become relevant for non EU countries.

  7. I haven’t seen anything so evolutionally new from the biggest brands for the past 5 years. Great new features and what seem to be “updates” but that’s about it.

  8. Personally tired of the fake AI keyword. This is not AI, your phone is not learning or thinking, it is just programmatically listening to you and feeding information to somewhere else that actually has machine learning. And I do not really care for any of those "AI" features. Just look at the autocorrect and autosuggest things, they SUX and I spend more time fixing incorrect "AI" then it actually being useful. I am NOT looking forward to AI listening to me all the time and passing it onwards.

  9. The main issue with other models not getting Apple Intelligence even tough the chips have the capability, like iPhone 15 & Plus, is due to the requirement of having 8GB RAM, and these 2 models don’t have that.
And that is the reason why iPhone 16 starting from base models are now gonna get 8GB RAM Base.

  10. I don’t know if it’s because they don’t want bad press and are intentionally holding back but if it’s not tested or out yet with the launch so close, I am very concerned. These AI features are the very ones they NEED to test before it comes out
