Chris made a mistake,but his intention was good for your name to be mentioned on an Oscar award stage, for any reason that means you are a somebody. Unfortunately he was misunderstood. Will Smith gone too far by slapping him, someone uses jokes and you used physical abuse before the whole world. The truth is Will Smith has been looking for an opportunity to insult him for a very long time. Any action most be judged according to our intention .

Azin ehn…it's the hypocrisy of it all for me. The fact that Will Smith was still allowed to return to his seat, remain in the auditorium, receive his award, shed crocodile tears whilst giving that creepy speech, party all night long afterwards, the faux outrage and sympathy from people and some celebrities…etc etc. The hypocrisy was front and centre, mehn. None of those celebrities who are justifying Will Smith's actions should ever come out to "denounce" violence, because they didn't stand up against violence when it mattered most.
I felt and still feel so insulted for Chris Rock. Violence is violence, regardless of who the victim or the oppressor is. How in the world is it okay for a grown man to get slapped on live national television??? Because he made a joke??? Come on, guys. That is blatant disrespect. Phrankleen, I think your analysis for this story is absolutely flawed. I understand that we all have subjective opinions on matters. However, when there is a clip that we can all see then it has to be an objective analysis. First, nowhere has Will said he assaulted Chris in 2022 because of his joke in 2016. It is only speculative and so lets stop giving Will an excuse he himself has not come out to use.
Also, anyone who says Chris' joke was mean has not seen the GI JANE movie yet. If you've seen it, you will know that the joke isnt a mean one at all. The fact that Will himself LAUGHED says it all. I agree with you that Will did not hit Chris because of the joke at all. It wasn't the joke. Irrespective of that there is no explanation for inflicting physical assault apart from in self defense.
And even in self defence there is a principle of proportionality ( For example you can not shoot someone because he slapped you, by law you are wrong( OVERKILL) and will be prosecuted by THE STATE I believe- I am no lawyer though ). Will was wrong in EVERYWAY. It is sickening to hear people try to even explain his actions.

Also, Will Smith laughed at Chris's joke initially till he obviously realised his wife wasnt happy about it and he lost his temper in that moment. It's simple as that.

Firstly, there was absolutely nothing degrading or insulting about Mr Rock G I JANE joke. G I JANE was a movie starring Demi Moore. A woman who made herself bald to fit into the masculine dominated US military. It was a great movie and considering Jada’s looks, there is nothing wrong with making a part 2 starring Jada Pinket. That’s not insulting Jada medical condition by any stretch of imagination. In fact, a G I JANE part 2 starring Jada will definitely be a box office success for a number of obvious reasons.
