  1. Let's hope The Warmongering US are not engaged by Somalia.
    Reality needs to prevail.
It is politically untenable for Ethiopia to remain landlocked following the actions of rebels.

  2. What's going to happen when China (mainland) demands that Ethiopia withdraws the deal with "Somaliland"? China plays a top 2 financial and economic role in Ethiopia and that same "Somaliland" recognizes China's rival ROC (Taiwan).

  3. The British divided us up and Barre scattered us throughout the world. The western colonizers made the maps not us. Both entities were wrong, yet two wrongs don't make a right. My father was born in Egypt family from British Somaliland. I was born in the USA in the 50's. I say don't let our greatest warrior Hassan die in vain. All Somalis should stand together and except each others differences and everyone should strive for independence and contribute to the wealth prosperity and long life of our country and blood line race. The USA is not going to recognize Somaliland as an independent state and they will pay other countries not to do business with you or offer you aid if need be.

Come together if other countries want to use our ports and fish in our sea they have to pay us dearly not conquer or colonize us.They have to bow down when they come to our town or don't come. We don't like invaders of any kind anyway.

Whatever profits from land, sea, oil should benefit all Somalis. The west is ruled by the god of War he divides and conquers as long as Somalis are divided he will step in between, and they only people who suffer get hurt and die is Somalis on both sides.

The white man is the one who made the map, and he will die and go to hell before he lets you change it, and he is not going against his British brothers, who cut up and divided Africa. I say agree to disagree.

Ethiopia is backed by Russia. USA always vs Russia and it is our leaders responsibility to keep the Somali people and country out of their conflict. You Somali leaders have the brains of an 8 years old boy. When are we going to have mature leaders, who have foresight and will benefit all the Somali people running the country? I am for all the tribes we can't be dominated and controlled, so we have to stand together.

When are you 8 year old leaders going to get it through your hard heads that your power lies in coming together not standing apart, and respecting each other's differences.

Look at this way I am the white man. I see you don't respect each other your own bloodlines. What makes me think you will respect me or anyone else's in the world at large, so I am not going to grant your wish. Because I respect my British brother, which is of my blood line, I am his descendant.

I am a visionary and my warning to you Somali leaders you better get your act together. Time is fleeting forget Barre he is burning in hell. Allah and no other god is coming to your rescue. Unity, peace, respect and acceptance is your only savior and power. Peace!

  4. Fighting over land, this is so sad. Why can’t we all live on this land without all this fighting. No one own anything in this world. Someone is provoking this situation among these countries. They tried hard to keep us fighting among our self

  5. Yes,because Ethiopia committed, violating Somalia sovregnity and territorial integrity,Somalia rejected the momerendium of understanding between Ethiopia and notheren regions of Somaliland.somalia concluded that m u o is nul and void,so if Ethiopia does not stop violating Somali territory, war is eminent,

  6. I was born in Hargeysa Somaliland, grew up with my proud countrymen who have a rich and unique history, language and set of customs and traditions that set them apart from other cultures.
I love most what my country somalia has been at different times in its history, the vanquisher of European colonialism and the tyrant siyaad barre, a beacon of opportunity and hope.
To love one's country is to be proud of it, but also not to be afraid to confront its problems and work to solve them. Crime of betraying one's country, especially by trying to kill its sovereign and giving aid and comfort to the enemy and setting up a parallel government when an enemy brutally takes over your nation and your countrymen into submission.
Everyone knows that Ethiopia is the only African country that has been a colonial power in Africa over another African nation that Europeans have done to Africa, for example Eritrea has been fighting for years for its independence from Ethiopia,  our brothers in Ogaden and Oromo are still under colonial Ethiopia.
Ethiopia has never been somali friendly nation, their dreams are now fulfilled through idiots who are in power over my country today who are soo busy cannibalizing all somalia and somliland assets like there is no tomorrow.
In South Somalia Turkiye and various Arab countries really control somalia as a whole, like healthcare, ports, airports, banks, there is almost nothing owned by Somalis in Somalia right now.
In Puntland, some thieves in same clan are looting the assets of the Somali people there, same looting is happening in Somaliland as well.
Just doing something bad or dishonest and selling out our beautiful coasts and coastal areas gives you idiots nothing or any success, power. History will judge you all harshly.
Indigenous people of North America let/welcome Europeans in their land, now they live in reserves, it can happen to us Somalis , if we let ethiopia our enemies in our country. To help invading ethiopian forces in northern somalia, sounds like high treason to me and should lead to the grave and refers to betrayal of one's own country by attempting to materially aid its enemies. Soomalya ha noolaato

  7. Ethiopians they won't leave after the 50 yrs and am sure no somali wanna see their country being colonized by ethiopia. We don't want be the second Palestine , if war comes we will fight without any hesitation

  8. In 1970s and 1980s Somalia helped the Tigrian and Eritrean rebels that overthrew the Ethiopian military government.
Somalia, Egypt, and a host of Arab nations played a key role in Ethiopia's loss of Red Sea access and Eritrea's Independence.
Now what? You harvest what you sow.
It's Somalia's turn to cry. Ethiopia has both economic and historical justification to recognize Somaliland as independent country abd sign defence and business contracts.
Egypt and those particular anti- Ethiopian Arabs has no moral ground to keep Ethiopia landlocked. They financed the Eritean rebels and caused Ethiopia to lose the ancient Red Sea coast with the ports.

  9. Egyptians President, who is the double face masked General AIA CIC inflamed the current Israel to war, Horn Africa in Sudan, Ethiopia, now heading to Somalis!Today Alshebabe leaders officially joined the Egyptian/Somali groups to export together the war all the way against to Israel? Who is behind the scene as a chain of Command? Why Arabs are jumbing to control all Red Sea long port access? Africa Unioin should speak up the truth for all imported proxy wars!

  10. Somaliland and Somalia were two separately independent countries from two different colonial powers namely Britain and Italy for over a century , then joined to make the Somali Republic in 1960. Somaliland preceded 5 days before Somalia, thus in respect to African colonial boundaries according to former OAU and present AU. The terms of unity were immediately violated by Somalia, particularly power sharing, a fundamental principle to union of states, where among other things the 1st two presidents and the first two prime ministers were taken by Somalia. Then just when things started more fair and for the first time Somaliland was given the post of prime minister in 1969, the military made a coup within months to sabotage this. From there started 20 years of oppression which became finally a massive genocidal campaign to the people of Somaliland. Without grievance of all this happened, Somalia once again violated the agreement of the liberation forces, whereby then the people of Somaliland came together and made their minds. This has resulted the Somaliland people to disband the union and restore its lost sovereignty in 1991, by declaring the Republic of Somaliland to restore their independence. Since then Somaliland has been peaceful, independent and democratic country. Ever since the reclamation of its freedom, Somaliland has been neutral did not interfere Somalia affairs, where the later has done all sorts of things to aggravate Somaliland. Now Somaliland has become tired of the futile talks with Somalia (13 rounds over the last decade), therefore its compelled to take a different approach after 63 years of destruction and wasted time, and willing to do everything for this cause Thank you for the upload.

  11. It’s funny how Somalia government complain about Somaliland and Ethiopia agreement while they have foreign troops in their country without their consent. Thats just sad. Viva Somaliland.

  12. Somaliland had its independence june 26 1960 was 5 days before Somalia, how does a country that is younger and unstable, dangerous. Rule over Somaliland which had several peaceful elections and had great success keeping terrorist away from its borders. Somaliland has 6 million people with out a country and Ethiopia with 100+ million without access to a sea.

  13. Ethiopia is a landlocked country, having sea access by leasing is good, but the issue is Somaliland is not a country that recognized internationally . It seems there might be a problem with Ethiopia and Somalia diplomatically soon. It looks a tension between the two countries is escalating! The deal is Ethiopia is going to recognized Somaliland as a country which make clearly conflict with Somalia, hopefully the issues will be solved peacefully!✌️

  14. Looks like everyone wants to make friends with Somaliland. More importantly, If folks want to continue to referring to Somaliland as a breakaway region of Somalia, it is evident that you are unaware of Somaliland’s history. It is important to recognise that Somaliland was an independent nation (in 1960) prior to the existences of Somalia and chose to withdraw from the union in 1991.

Moreover, A Gentle message to the landlocked Ethiopia’s, Cease your derogatory comments towards Somaliland, as they have the ability to withdraw from any agreements with you and deny you access to their seaports you soo desperately need.

Message to Somalia, Union is over between us since 1991 but happy to listen to your counter offers!!!

  15. the african union said somaliland wouldnt open a pandoras box among africans as somalilands case is unique and justified its also a colonial boundry the somaliland protectorate they are restoring the previous soverignty they once had like how egypt and syria merged and split and senegal and gambia same thing somalland is older than somalia but they became one with the south italian colony now they want out after genocide by the dictator they defeated holding them back for 30 plus years its wrong somalia must let go and stop being a parasite

  16. We are not one, once bitten, twice shy. The hypocrisy of Somalia takes the biscuit. It still shows Somalia has evil designs for somaliland, you can't hide behind the false promises of unity, we see through your intentions of power grab, your warmongering is politics by other means.

  17. This is not deal its intent, its a wake up Call, there no way ETHIOPIA CAN FUND, they default their credit payment, Ethiopia is bankrupt. So don’t worry these two man are desperate leader’s for good attention for elections.

  18. Somaliland's geopolitical maneuver on January 1st reflects a profound shift in regional dynamics, as it entered into a strategic agreement to lease a port to Ethiopia. This decision not only addresses Ethiopia's pressing need for maritime access but also underscores Somaliland's commitment to fostering solidarity and cooperation in the Horn of Africa. Despite Somaliland's lack of international recognition since declaring independence from Somalia in 1991, this move signals a pragmatic and forward-thinking approach to regional relations.

Somaliland, a self-declared republic with a distinct identity from Somalia, has been striving for recognition on the global stage for over three decades. The decision to lease a port to Ethiopia is not only a pragmatic economic move but also a diplomatic one, demonstrating Somaliland's willingness to engage with its neighbors for mutual benefit.

Ethiopia, a landlocked country with a population exceeding 120 million, has long faced challenges due to its lack of direct access to the sea. The port agreement with Somaliland offers Ethiopia a vital gateway for trade and economic development. The undisclosed financial terms of the 50-year lease suggest a substantial commitment from Ethiopia, underlining the strategic importance of this maritime access for the nation's growth.

The timing of this agreement is significant, considering Ethiopia's role as a key player in the Horn of Africa and its increasing influence on the continent. By securing a maritime outlet through Somaliland, Ethiopia aims to diversify its trade routes, reduce dependency on neighboring Djibouti, and strengthen its economic resilience.

Somaliland's decision to forge a closer economic relationship with Ethiopia has broader implications for regional geopolitics. Somalia, still grappling with internal challenges, has expressed discontent over Somaliland's pursuit of autonomy. However, Somaliland's assertion of independence aligns with global trends favoring stronger regional ties and economic interdependence.

The 50-year commitment underscores a long-term vision for collaboration and economic development between Somaliland and Ethiopia. The undisclosed financial terms leave room for speculation, but the transformative potential of this agreement is undeniable. It not only provides Ethiopia with a vital maritime link but also positions Somaliland as a key player in regional trade dynamics.

Somalia's resistance to Somaliland's independence complicates the geopolitical landscape. Despite Somaliland's assertions of autonomy, Somalia has been reluctant to acknowledge its independence formally. The port lease to Ethiopia further strains their already fragile relationship. However, Somaliland's decision to pursue economic opportunities independently underscores its determination to chart its course, irrespective of Somalia's stance.

Ethiopia's acknowledgment of Somaliland's autonomy in the context of this port agreement opens the door for a potential shift in regional dynamics. If Ethiopia formally recognizes Somaliland's independence, it could set a precedent for other nations to follow suit. This, in turn, may lead to greater international recognition for Somaliland, bolstering its position on the global stage.

In the broader context of global geopolitics, the collaboration between Somaliland and Ethiopia could have implications for the BRICS community. As emerging economies in the Global South continue to gain prominence, a stronger alliance between Ethiopia and Somaliland may position them as influential players within the BRICS framework.

In conclusion, Somaliland's decision to lease a port to Ethiopia represents a nuanced blend of economic pragmatism and diplomatic foresight. The agreement has the potential to reshape regional dynamics, challenge existing geopolitical narratives, and position both nations as emerging forces in the evolving landscape of the Horn of Africa. As the 50-year lease unfolds, it will be intriguing to observe the economic, diplomatic, and geopolitical ramifications of this landmark decision.

  19. Ethiopia can end Somalia once and for all it Somalia provokes them. Somalis best not mess with Ethiopia 😂 peace is preferred but they aren’t afraid to defend themselves 😂

  20. There is no obvious reason that any Africans should be divided to the point of war. Souvriegn control and freedom to create peace must be planned and implemented. Search for factions that have misconceived ideas and solve the problems by reassuring truth as the basis of trust within all countries on the continent. You should agree that you have the same goals and purpose in an Africana framework.

  21. We People of Amhara in Ethiopia stand we Somalia. We respect it's sovereignty .Oromo expansionist is the treat to east Africa ,we need to stand against the Oromo aggression in the region .

The government of Abiy never want peace .

  22. I think, If Somalia is indeed against this MOU, recognizing Somaliland's sovereignty could indeed be a solution to end the ongoing discussions between the two. However, it's important to note that despite 12 rounds of talks over the past 32 years, they can not agree yet

  23. Somaliland has been separated from Somalia for the past 33 years and has been defacto-governed. It is a country with its own flag, its own army, its own passport, its own money, and it is a country that holds peaceful and democratic elections.
Turkey, Taiwan, Norway, Belgium, UAE, Kenya, Djibouti and other countries have recognized Somaliland as a sovereign country, and Ethiopia is expected to recognize it soon.
Taiwan, Norway, Belgium, Turkey, UAE, Kenya, Djibouti have opened their consulate in Hargeisa, and it has been a year since Somaliland opened an embassy in Ethiopia.
Neither Somalia nor Egypt nor other countries haven't the legal right to interfere in the sovereignty of Somaliland.
Somaliland, like any sovereign country, has the right to pursue its interests with neighboring countries on the principle of giving and receiving.

  24. Somalia faces a challenging future marked by numerous internal and external adversaries. Even ethnic factional groups lack unity in their political alignment with the central government. Considering the prevailing discord, it might be prudent for Somalia to consider dissolution. In the interest of fostering peace, it is crucial for African children to explore narratives that speak of a bygone era, such as, "Once upon a time, there was a nation in Africa named Somalia. Due to internal conflicts, it eventually dissolved. Its descendants, reminiscent of the ancient Egyptians, migrated to the heart of Africa, where they coexisted harmoniously with their neighbors.
