I don’t see the problem in building without columns. The walls act as the load bearers. I’m in Eastern Europe and most block houses are built without columns.
You are educating us. Yes, columns are very important in securing the structure of a building. In Jamaica, for the most part, they put steel rod inside the concrete blocks and pour concrete mixed inside the blocks. That's why you don't see many building collapsing in Jamaica. But, it's important to play an active part in building your house because people will try to cut corners.

I've seen many such buildings. You'll be surprised at the stuff people are building out there. There's no regulation so everyone is doing their own thing without any form of structural engineer or architect input
