Why we wouldn't visit NAMIBIA again | An Honest Travel Vlog #thejawestravel

We visited this beautiful country but we were highly disappointed by one major thing. This may be why we wouldn’t visit Namibia again.

  1. We have just come back from a visit to Namibia. I grew up there but haven't been back for a while, and people in the tourist areas are so rude! I couldn't believe it, several times we asked questions and they just looked away, it was almost funny. We're white, and both black and white people did this, so not a rascist thing. In fact even 2 guys in a white bakkie, and we drive a white bakkie, like farmers everywhere. So strange, but we loved our trip. Just btw, the first people there were Namas, so they wouldn't be happy with you claiming their land i dont think 💕

  2. I grew up on a farm and we had 30 people working for us, it is extremely rare to see husband and wife with kids together the men never mix with the women and they don't even walk together, so I think that was the reason people stared, they instantly think you must be from the US or something, trust me you 3 was the talking point in town for the next month, they will tell everybody wat they saw, go back they will recognize you instantly, lol!

  3. You have a lovely family. keep travelling. Don't let that poor reception stop your good spirit flying higher. Its not your problem..the people living in some places are themselves the problem, very low in spirit and left far behind in a changing world. And with such a handsome kid there's much to be happy for. Try one day visit Kenya..we appreciate travellers

  4. I'm a Namibia the is solitaire lodge and solitaire dessert farm,,i worked at the solitaire dessert farm 2016 to 2018 i myself i came across with the solitaire lodge people actually the waiter and cashier they don't treat the black as equal as the white that is something i did notice…by the way thanks for your visit,,,hope in the future to visit SA

  5. 27:01 Namibian people stick to themselves and their circles of friends. Keep to themselves so keep outsiders abay but once you get to know them. From a Namibian who grew up in Windhoek. Now living in UK.

  6. It seems to me you are from another Planet. There is nothing wrong with our country, nor with our people in Namibia. 😂 every second word is: is it because we are black? Dit wil my voorkom jy is met daai sin oor die kop geslaan. In Namibia Black, White and Coloured are one Nation, and we stand together. We live in Harmony with one another.

  7. I have traveled the whole of Africa, i think there are places like Zimbabwe and Mozambique who top for me on friendly poeple. Namibia Is not racist we just not well vested in hospitality but we good poeple. i have learned get a local guide or friend in a country and you will enjoy that country

  8. Thank you for this presentation.I have been fascinated by Namibia and planning to visit that part of Alkenulan(Africa).I will have to do some additional research.Enjoy the moment

  9. Only when you travel to other countries you do get to realize that Namibians are not as hospitable. Everyone is really minding their own business here. Travelled to Kenya and the people were really awesome that’s when I realized that we are not as nice as other nations are honestly especially by service providers. Even the service you get at our airport and other countries airports is very different man…but gotta love the motherland

  10. Hi Yolz, I share your sentiments. i am also doing the same travel as you are dong but using my own offroad car and caravan and wherever i go i will be watched as if i have stolen the car and caravan. to be honest with you i have been asked so many times to say how did u get into these type of lifestyle and sometimes i was told that it is their first time seeing a black person doing these type of travelling staying in the bush with off road car and caravan. sometimes you will get nice people welcoming you and even inviting you to come and have a braai and drinks with them. i wish you had enough time and days to explore Botswana especially Moremi in the Okavango Delta. nice place in the Bush. Enjoy the travel

  11. I'm sorry this happened to you, somehow did expect it unfortunately and hope that you guys had a chill time nevertheless. I noted the Swazi necklace having lived there for 7 years 😂😂

  12. I had the opportunity to be in Windhoek during January 2002. The guesthouse where I stayed, was good and had friendly people. Although walking around town, I vaguely can recall the way people look at you when asking for information! Apart from that, I did enjoyed my six days as South African there. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

  13. We adventured through Namibia a month ago as well, Windhoek through to Swakopmund, using the Buitepos border as we are from Botswana. We had a similar experience; lovely facilities and landscapes but horrible reception. From hotel concierge through to tour guides, nobody was as thrilled to help us as they were our white counterparts. We went on a kayak tour where our guide completely ignored us and was much more attentive to the French tourists who were clearly experienced and it was our first time. At first I thought I was paranoid but by day 3 I could tell there were racial and cultural divides that unfortunately disparage black tourists, which is unfortunate given our diplomatic relations with Namibia. All the same, beautiful country.

  14. Firstly, your video is so beautiful, informative, and interesting. As I foreigner living in SA I love to follow African stories.
I'm sorry to hear that you stumbled upon so much hostility on your journey. I know the feeling. It is not nice.
I hope you don't take it as a matter of racism which partly it is, but that we are all diverse in culture and in the way we are raised up.
As you know, the influence of German culture is dominant, and we all know that German people are hostile in communication. Fact. I sent my child to German school in Joburg and after 14 years( including 2 years nursery)of being part of that community, I can "proudly" say that for all these years, I only got cold shoulder and I was treated less or nothing by the whole community. I have no contact with anyone from there, so as my child who is fully German speaking and well educated. Yes, I am white but not the right shade if you know what I mean.
People are divided, it is the fact and we have to not worry about it.
I have similar experience from here. Went to Durban recently. Wherever I went, I was greeted by frosted stares of people. It was so disappointing and scary. I made the decision to never visit KZD.
It was the share contrast to how kind, welcoming, and pleasant people of Eastern Cape were.
So, you never know who you are going to meet and greet in this lifetime. All you should do is enjoy the journey and believe that being a good person doesn't discriminate. Keep being a good person and make more good vlogs for all diverse ones to enjoy it.❤

  15. I understand that negative feeling of being different but one thing i learned traveling is that you it. You are the negative experience. What do i mean make fun of the absurd. i Am zambian and christian but my last name is juma which is big in the islamic world but i only got to be concious of it recently after 30years of life. Thats when all those airport extra checks made sense from my early 20s made sense at the time i never cared am in europe and it went down :), but my experiences where no different in Bots, SA. Mozambique, swaziland with exeption of mozambique most of my lodging around the region are white and mostly managed by boers. There is no place i did not enjoy period and i traveled a lot during that casper song so i did use that phrase a lot we here to take back the land. You are the happiness and lastly i learned that every human being is going through what you are going through imagin white folk could not give service to people like us in this particular industry now my money is as good as theirs. As black folk learn to have clean fun they are learning also to deal with it

  16. Hi Yolz, I totally appreciate your honest feedback, as a Namibian I am disappointed by the treatment your family received in Namibia. but i believe that we can turn this around but it will require individual commitment to change. Customer service is an issue in some parts of our country. We hope to welcome you again and hope your family will have a great time. stay blessed.

  17. Well done, keep overlanding…unfortunately this we and will experience wherever we go due to narratives created against certain races. Should we alow this to stop us, absolutely not, let it be a fuel in our exploring instincts.

  18. My family and I have been wanting to do this for the longest time , but always so fearful of the unknown , seeing you guys do this !!!💯absolutely amazing and encouraging , thankful I stumbled on your Channel
