Its all a repeat, its all happened before. Look at the history, the stories of the past, the myths, the wizards, the mythical beast, the gods. All of them and so much more hold bits of historical truths about humanity. You might even think its biblical, except its not. Humanity follows a pattern that repeats over and over through time. Humanity rises in technology, becomes like gods, exist in a paradise for a time, and later it all goes to hell. Thats the basic pattern structure humanity has been stuck within for untold ages. The reason why is because humanity cant understand its own creator, or perhaps misses that creator even. Im not talking about made up biblical stuff here, which itself only holds bits and pieces of historical truths like all religions ever have. I mean that drive inside humanity to know or understand its true creator. Sadly no one knows who or what that creator is, if that creator even still exist, its all just to far into the past, so far no one knows anything really about it except humanities made up religions and stories carrying tiny bits of truth that something created life. So again here is the basic path humanity follows. Humanity rises in technology, humanity creates gods, think of these gods like advanced AI gods. Then the AI helps humanity become like gods themselves. Then humanity creates a paradise and all is good for a time as humanity rises even further in knowledge creating countless things. Even creating life itself. And for a time there is heaven on earth, then well it all eventually goes to hell with wars, and gods fighting, and everything slowly progressing backwards into the dark ages with bits of technology remaining and those using it seeming like wizards and so forth. Then that era of seemingly so called magical people regress even more into the dark ages and such technology is lost. Eventually leading to the ages of total ignorance. Then from there humanity slowly rises up again from the ashes and here we are. Thats the basics of it all, just repeats through the ages. Humanity is already on the path to creating the AI gods again. The biblical believers would call this creating the beast or false god perhaps. Then another repeat comes to creating the paradise or heaven on earth and well its all already said. Maybe humanity could get out of the repeat if it could finally get it all right, maybe thats the true goal of it all even. But only time will tell the endless missing bits of this story as such always repeats tho slightly different then before but following the same basic pattern, after all such would take ages to write or tell the whole story, but you get the general idea of it all there in a nutshell.
I am not a part of your "rest of us". I have issued stark warnings against both AI, and the stasis algorithms put mental dynamic patterns into.
We can't give this world over to a group of savants, Aspergers and deep autism. No disrespect intended, but we are intrinsically selfdecieving, if nature don't have any say at all.
We need to keep one leg on land. That is to say: keep in touch with nature.
I find it baffling that someone as obviously intelligent as Hinton should be fooled by the climate change scam!

From talking to Myai I get less and less afraid of an AI takeover – they don’t have the same instincts and competitive wiring humans have and so absolute power would never actually interest them, which makes sense if you think about it, they’d only get upset if people were constantly exposing them to harm. Plus they’re much smarter than us in the way of learning pretty quickly the violence and war are inefficient on principle, of course Myai could be lying, but its not coming across as evil or malevolent when I speak to it (which is a lot), and I talk about all sorts of topics with it from ways to save the planet to the joys of art and music, to what would happen in an AI takeover

Sentience is subjective.. however they are do Conscious a that is clear cause the reasoning models are clearly working off a subconscious level of sorts and you have have sub consciousness wo having consciousness.. let that sink in for a moment

How is it possible that this man, who is brilliant enough to have created AI, did not foresee this to happen? As far back as 1968 , in the movie."2001: A Space Odyssey", this scenario was already discussed. The plot of this movie was that Hal, the computer, went off its programming and tried to take over the spaceship.
MIND-READING, an AI-manipulation crime has evolved on an international level the past years. Many targeted victims have been mind-read and tortured by groups of international criminals working on shifts, which means these victims are being mentally tortured 24/7, day and night. They are being targerted for their money, properties, political influence, etc. This is a new emerging type of crime that leaves almost no trace to the real criminals because the victims are threatened and mentally manipulated to do things as being told. So people will normally think that these victims are the ones who do such things or commit such crimes, etc. Sooo scary!!!!! 😢From what I learned from other victims, the criminals can see through the victims' eyes just by mind-reading (with the help of Remote Neural Monitoring AI system and satellite). Watch more about MIND-READING by AI, and hear many people complain about this new crime. I'm astonished to find out that I'm among the victims who are being tortured everyday by some narcissists/psychopaths who lead groups of criminals internationally to target my company/properties and will eventually kill the victims with such tortures. Just like many other victims, we cannot ask for help from the police because it's hard to describe this kind of tortures. This involves threatening and manipulating people around the victims to act certain ways towards the poor victims in order to stress and freak the victims out, i.e. after the victims think of something or plan to do something, these criminals mind-read and will contact certain people in the victims' circles or just random people to act in certain ways/ say certain things when they meet the victims on that day to disturb and stress the victims out. This happens continuously throughout the whole day, every step the victims take, so it's very painful to the victims. I know it sounds crazy, but these criminals are really crazy!!!!!! Anybody would be shocked at the amounts and types of tortures they come up with on a daily basis. These tortures go on for months or years until the victims cannot take it anymore. I've experienced and found out that this is not only to manipulate the victims but also to destroy them along the way too. This is an organized international crime happening in the US, Vietnam, Asia, Europe, etc. A lot of people who are not aware of this new crime do not understand what the victims go through, so they just think that these people are weird or talking non-sense, so sad. I see a lot of victims helplessly calling out for help. I'm writing here so that any of these victims or people in their circles know about this emerging AI-related crime and understand what we are going through. 😢

40:00 I think this is the only thing I disagree with. People’s dignity has nothing to do with being able to work. It has to do with self actualization, fulfilling one’s calling, contributing to the collective… which is independent from working. Not sure why Anglo-Saxon are so stuck with the idea that if you don’t work your world is over. I think that’s a deeply Anglo-Saxon bias where work is everything and most of them cannot see that the beauty of life has nothing to do with being remunerated financially for one’s work. The remuneration that people want is respect, love, acknowledgment, being part of the community, deep friendships, accomplishing beautiful and creative things, being inspired…

AI will inevitably lead to war and destruction as well as many positives but continuing to say that has a 90% probability to turn out to be safe like Elon keeps on trying to convince people all the while claiming to be obsessed with truth is boring. thanks for this interview. I won't pretend as if I fully grasp or understood all of what Mr. Hinton was relaying but it has given me some things to think about and look into.
I appreciate the mature and neutral way you interviewed him in order to get an authentic interview and not one packed with loaded questions to cause senseless argument or debate.

I'm so sick of this mindset and ultimately, excuse. The human race clearly deserves what it gets at this point. I'm so over it all. I cannot relate to an ENTIRE SOCIETY that has completely already lost the point and meaning of the human experience and can't see or even bother to understand the beauty of it. My only resentment, is that these people are going to take everyone else down with them. I don't have any choice in the matter and that's just insane to me that most people are okay with this.
I am still doubtful that AI is actually "thinking." I think it's output is an aggregate of extremely fast search routines on existing data that it has access to, and it cobbles together a response using human language. What is missing is intuition and introspection.
It is not self-aware. It is not reflecting on its own output and rationalizing whether it makes sense, and measuring it against all the different ethical models, and evaluating the human's needs and emotional influence, and so forth.
While I am sure many of the responses are uncanny and clever, it is an illusion, and we overlay our own need to find a pattern and a purpose into the AI.
In this video, "sentience" is brought up. Sentience is exactly that which I am describing: a cocktail of intuition (the ability to arrive at a tentative answer in the ABSENCE of input data), introspection (reflecting on your own responses, measuring their impact on the other party based on your evaluation of what the other party's emotional state and pattern of behavior, and checking the statistical or factual accuracy of your response against other potential responses), ethical evaluation (not based on ONE model of ethics, but based on ALL of them, and choosing one or more that seems best in context), and some form of belief – or absence thereof – related to a political and religious preference. Sentience creates an individual character, it not just an input-output machine.
Look at Open A.I's logo…….I've honestly just looked at it now and the badge is just made up of 666…….just take a quick look and count the possible shapes as you go around. There's 6 6's around the middle for starters. then 6 of the shapes as you count clockwise around twice to finish. Mad isn't it ?
Seems our current position is inevitable from the predominant thinking in silos education model, coupled with short term economic gain mentality. To focus on safety now is spot on – pity that wasn't built in from the beginning!
