I think Zuma and Malema didn't not trust each other from the beginning. Even when they thought of Working together, the vision that required them to be wholly dependant one upon the other demanded alot from them. They could not sacrifice themselves and their Political ambitions for the well being of the entire collective.
If Zuma without having a party yet Refused the Idea of Progressive Parties assembling under the EFF banner and Malema thought closing shop to go form a new organisation (for at the initial talks stage the was no MKP as a party yet) under Zuma was Madness. How do you still expect them to would have both United under one Leadership, whose would it have been?
They both were not will to put their political career in the hands of the other. (Their past needed to be addressed first, some truth and reconciliation kind of redemptive caucus).
Without that the was no Unity. So those who left EFF were long gone, Julius know it somehow. They did not go for unity, you must analyse this carefully. The is no uniting people as you think. Zuma has his own vision, the other though they might be with Zuma now they Left the EFF the way they did willing fulfilling their own visions whilst using Zuma.
