  1. I don’t know. My family is like Smokey’s. I just want the same respect as any other American. Our people have made an entirely new culture here. I don’t know what to call it, but color is overemphasized here.

  2. Lmao thats like Mexican Americans who've families fought in every war resenting being called Mexican not accepting what they're ancestors who built America went through the word negro comes from the Spaniards who conquered they're tribal empires and enslaved them why accept a colored social cast system as your heritage over the ancestral homelands? This why so many black youths feel lost not accepting they're roots. Also I'm brown like red clay used be sand colored as a mix person i don't feel like i can can call myself white because even my white friends say they have shades they would rather be called irish or Scottish or British or german and as a kins woman i agree with them I'm proud to be an afro-European American and I'm equally proud of my families journey and work from being slaves, slave owners, revolutionaries, presidents, farmers, criminals, civil rights advocates, medics, landowners, ect.

  3. Back in the days mix blood Black man smokey Robinson use to wear. Afro and was accepted by his black skin bc Breatherin ,but he was not accepted by the other side of his Familly today ,race relations get a little better Mr smokey don't want nothing to do with with black people it is known that mix blood people generally go that way later in life.

  4. I don't understand why they try to label mixed breeds as black or African in the first place when a mixed person is not black nor White is there a new creation

  5. He's right, should, everyone in America should be called Americans, besides blacks there are also other people from different countries, once they become Americans without added adding any else.

  6. Smokey We Africans don’t see you as black either, though you stole the African rhythms and beats for your music. Again the continent has received more dignified persons than you, don’t come to Africa, we don’t need you

  7. Roots messed the minds of many up. Alex Haley was sued. My mom said we’re not African and she didn’t have one single African as a neighbor when she was a little girl. Never heard of an African until Roots. My genealogy doesn’t put my ancestors near African at all. Stop doing DNA and research your genealogy. You will be surprised. Mr. Robinson is correct.

  8. I’m not an African or an American. Afrika means to divide and separate and African comes from a Roman general(Africanus) who was racist . The term American comes from a European who was a slave owner(Amerigo). To say you’re an African American is the same as saying you’re a slave.

  9. Growing up in the 90s, there was great national pride in being American. Your national identity was the important thing, regardless of your profile and background, all that you are, adds to your American identity.

  10. Fought in every war & look how they treated u. I come frm a military fam. Call urself wht u please. I'm a proud AFRICAN AMERICAN. THANK U, MY ANCESTORS. I'LL NEVER FORGET
