  1. We love living in Porto, Portugal. Though there are downsides like in every place in the world, it is fantastic. We love the great weather, food, people and more. The winters are not a big deal for us, but we come from Michigan USA with lots of snow. Great video!!

  2. I believe the retirement crisis will get even worse. Many struggle to save due to low wages, rising prices, and exorbitant rents. With homeownership becoming unattainable for middle-class Americans, they may not have a home to rely on for retirement either.

  3. I actually like that the weather is varied, if I wanted all sun all the time I would move to Mexico or Costa Rica. It seems that this is a wonderful place to consider. I think if I move anywhere, which I plan to, overseas, I must be the one to adapt and to embrace a new culture. Isn't that the point?

  4. Lets be honest, American culture is much different to European culture. Most Americans I meet are obsessed with work and money and always lead with the question "what do you do", which to Europeans automatically makes you a boring cunt. They are obsessed with chasing fulfilment from a career, most don't achieve that fulfilment and then become slightly bitter know-it-all bastards whilst finding it incredibly difficult to have any serious discussion about the arts, music, culture, history. It doesn't surprise me at all that Americans struggle to fit in when they move here.

I think Americans from the North East of the USA (New York etc) are culturally closer to Europeans than those on the West Coast and Southern States, those people are just alien to us. And how can you go from having like 13 days annual leave per year (I get 35 days + 10 public holidays) to moving to a culture where people go for a 3 hour nap in the afternoon and expect to in any way be culturally similar? Americans should stick to Hawaii, Costa Rica, the places they have Americanised.

  5. Title and video just seems like clickbait, a lot of these “problems” aren’t problems plus you’ll find the same things elsewhere, there’s no such thing as a perfect place. I’m half Portuguese, it’s my dream to live there I can’t believe my mum ever moved

  6. It always amuses me when expats try to find a new country to move and live and expect everyone there to speak perfect English to accommodate them… why should they? Do you speak Portuguese in the US? It’s like a German expat moving to the US and expecting being able to get by only speaking German 😂😂😂

  7. his complaints? bad Mexican food? winter is warm but gloomy ? learn the language? cant watch shitty reality tv? and things move slower lol damn sounds horrible

  8. Hi Dave,
Could you post a video on the Health care options, different plans and, their general costs. Perhaps using yourself as an example of what your monthly premiums are if you buy Health Insurance. Thanks, I‘ll be following.

  9. Yes, those vloggers are often so full of it. I immediately disbelieve any and all travel videos that try to make people think some country is a shangri-la.—low taxes, “free passports,” visa free travel, beautiful beaches, fantastic nightlife, “live like a king,” and so on. Ugh! Glad you are not like that. Viewers and targeted destinations will love you for your objectivity.

  10. These videos have one shitty flaw: they never mention hobbies. Maybe in the past 4 years some things have become easier with better shipping times from Aliexpress and the fact that we can now use the spanish amazon. Otherwise, getting niche stuff like some car tools or other car products is downright dreadful and add that to any other thing. You can't waltz in to a store and get out with a 3D printer (there's like 1 or 2 in the whole country that have a very small selection) or assortments of electronics. Its a diesel galore so get ready to get a 1.9TDI rolling coal and generally cars smelling down right awful. Music stores are somewhat alright usually and there's always something you might be able to pick up in a 200km radius, so its not bad. I'm not gonna go into other stuff or why this is, but the reality is that portugal is not diverse when it comes to hobbies or niche expertise.

  11. A best intro Vacation Vibe. Thanks for the video. ❤

Lisbon feels like a killer spot for a 28-day getaway, especially if you're an English-speaking expat. Sure, there might not be a flood of Americans, but locals probably speak enough English to get by. It’s got that vibe — a place where you could not only vacation but maybe even lay down some roots for a second home in Europe.

Portugal's hanging out in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula, with Spain on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Lisbon’s right there on the coast, staring out at the ocean like it knows something the rest of Europe doesn’t. Westernmost country in Europe, man — it's out there on the edge.

  12. I am American, my city has been destroyed of what made it fantastic by folks like yourselves. I don't blame them. And this is in addition to the typical "ugly American .".. It is as s whole. Anc i feel sorry fir those eho may have moved therd before whatever publications announced ut wad the hot spot. Sone is financial, but mostly it is the vhanges made to the local culture. Im sure you are a swell dude, but when you follow a group, you lose that privrge You think those locals want to go into theif regular hang out and deal w Americans? I love American abd I don't. We are that kid wh

  13. Listen up. Why don’t young Americans know geography? BAD LEFT LEANING SCHOOLS. Why don’t Portuguese like Americans? Who do they encounter? Left leaning pomposities, oblivious and always “knowing better”. Escapism rules their weak minds until reality sets in and home they FLEE. You tell us of how Euros “get along” with all cultures but that, given what is ACTUALLY HAPPENING IN EUROPE, is purely a LIE. AND…. as to Euros speaking multiple languages, you know the BULL behind that claim! Europe is a gaggle of multi speaking nations, all packed together. Mere osmosis demands you will pick up some languages from exposure. NO BIG ACHEIVEMENT THERE, DAVE. IN THE USA, we are not exposed in many parts of the country to OTHER THAN ENGLISH, in some parts Spanish is spoken and non Hispanics understand the basics when needed. MORE, it is RARELY NEEDED, because most Hispanic CITIZENS are also bilingual. So your predictable put downs of the USA are predictable nonsense. More, we do not need to apologize to Portugal, or any or all of war mongering Europe about OUR FOREIGN POLICY, given what we see Euros do, and world wars started BY EUROS. I don’t feel a need to apologize or explain what foods I like or why my nation has a right to decide, FOR ITSELF, what is best for US, ABSENT YOUR AND EUROPE’S little opines. AS FAR AS CITIZENSHIP IS CONCERNED, YOU LEFT US, WE DID NOT LEAVE YOU. THUS, your opinion of us become less consequential with each passing day! Perhaps it is time you spend less time falsely criticizing THE NATION YOU ABANDONED (because we are SOOOOOO awful) and find a NEW NATION to live in while complaining about……….. well, you ex pats are always well stocked in negative, unhappy vibes, so you should be happy wherever you move next. I recommend Moscow.

  14. Are there other data points to consider in the "…over 50% of Americans don't stay" (or whatever)? E.g., X% return to the US, Y% move to another Schengen country, Z% do something else…

  15. What is the average level of Black African DNA among the Portuguese? I understand that during the 15th-18th centuries the Caucasian women of Portugal often procreated with their Black servants and other Black inhabitants when their menfolk were on long distance voyages or trips to Portuguese colonies, some of which lasted many years. These Black Africans were brought to Portugal from the Portuguese colonies in places such as Mozambique. Some say the reason why Portugal's society and achievements began to decline after the 17th century is because this race mixing caused a decline in the average IQ of the Portuguese. My father hired many Portuguese following the civil war in 1974, and a few of them had African features; the one I knew the best was pretty smart and became an accountant for a liquor distributor.

  16. Americans are funny. They get out of the their comforts in America for the uniqueness and culture of other countries and then the first thing they do is try to Americanize and ruin everything that is unique.
