The land of ridiculously cheap property.
I was back in Blackpool with my good friend @somewheredifferent who offered to show me round talk more about why it is so cheap to buy here, and also look at some of the huge old hotels that are currently selling for…

I hope and would love to see any ‘improvements’ in Blackpool include local people instead of just outsiders going there and making things good but only for themselves.
Great Show Turnip, Duncan was a good a find as the $45 K bargains. Ps What are the land rates?
That hotel will likely never sell at any price unless its given away with a £200k reverse payment to cover the demolition costs and asbestos removal.
It has zero parking which would put off the majority of renters if it were to be refurbished but for the same reason it will never get refurbished, you could not even get companies to quote for any work if the guy doing the survey cannot park then how will any workers and remember they would have to walk in all their tools and materials every day.
How would they recieve deliveries, have skips for rubbish etc?
Once demolished (but again even doing would not be of interest to most contractors) then a new building could be erected with adequate parking, maybe 12 rooms? But imagine the cost to get to that stage! I doubt it would ever be viable given the investment needed.
Maybe the seafront will become gentrified but unlikely if many of those places are going to be housing asylum seekers.

I love his model. It's within the reach of the average person. Thanks for showing us this.
The parison hotel is now wrecked
This makes me want to go to Blackpool.
Me n partner visited twice this year, once near backend of March then back end of June, weather was glorious. I know this resort needs to be invested in but in spite of its problems , like any other resort it can rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes. It will take time.
Fair play to this guy. He deserves success for taking the risk. He has a great attitude. Best of luck to him.
If what we're told about global warming is true then the British coast will end up being more attractive than the Med.
A standing invite to come to see me in my house in the south of France. I bought it for less than 5k. I'll show you half a dozen that's for sale for a euro.
Loads of supply and not much demand for knackered hotels in Blackpool.
£1 billion would buy a few thousand hotels and do them up. Another billion would do all the shops. Once its been rejuvenated it'll attract more people. I go a few times every year and it gets worse every time. A billion sounds like a lot but theres more than enough people with obscene amounts of money that could invest in communities around the country but chose to just sit on the wealth and its only going to get worse.
What did she say at 3:18? Subtitles say IBMB but Google returns nothing
Blackpool is like Bioshock, decaying and full of mutants
Because…its a dump. Visited last month to go to the waterpark. Venture anything further and its depressing.
i work from my computer, but one condition of employment is I stay in Canada. I wish there were properties like this jn Canada, I'd slam down the money like Fry from Futurama
