I want to be a traveler like you 💖
You went to the commercial capital, of course hotels will be freaking expensive
I would have done an ancestry test, and most of my DNA has origins in Benin. I'm from Barbados the first stop from Africa in the transatlantic slave trade. I can't wait to visit.

Would you still reccomend traveling by water? My spidey senses don't like the idea of random check points. How did you get your driver? It seemed you also had a guide? How did you find him?

@tayo aina when are you coming back to Benin?
There's a difference between having an open mind and having a varying perspective. Varying perspectives are not necessarily about closed minds. Thanks for sharing.
Tayo is that your GF?
Thanks man for this. I'm doing Lagos, Togo, Benin and Accra this December (2023). This is quite helpful. Are those informal roadblocks safe for travelers like me?
I lived there for 11 years, the people there were so nice. Maybe it's cause I'm light skinned (Yovo yovo bonsoir). Anyways, beautiful place. Great place to live, especially if you have currency from the U.S..
watching this in 2023 and seeing $100 as 55k. laugh wan tear my belle
Watched from Jamaica.
Thank you for this viewpoint I’m coming from America for a honeymoon there
Why are the real estates so expensive in Africa? Why are they selling in dollars and not their local currencies?

This bring back some memories!! 😭 I am Nigerian who lived in Benin Republic for like 3yrs as a kid !! One thing I loved was the food!! 😭 though i don’t remember much I can’t forget the food! My favorite food from Benin is Koko.. if I am not mistaken. I think it’s made from couscous and another called soja it’s like cerelac use to eat it with bread! 😋
benin is a very nice place as a student in benin but they overprice everything which makes it hard for us to live there
