Why I returned my Oura Ring

I got my Oura Ring on Christmas and was really excited to use the Smart Ring features as someone who doesn’t wear an Apple Watch everyday. But once my one month free trial ran out… I started looking at alternatives and that’s where I found Ultrahuman Ring Air.

So this is an Oura Ring vs Ultrahuman Ring Air video review!

  1. They say 'titanium ring', I hear 'degloving'
It's even worse. Any trauma that leads to inflammation, and good luck removing the ring from your finger. What a wonderful idea to do sport while wearing one

  2. Does the ultra human app require Wi-Fi or cell service? Like will it work in the middle of a large isolated forest with no service with nothing but a Bluetooth connection between the ring and your phone?

  3. I hate the idea of paying for my own data. I started with Oura before they started with the subscription. When my ring died I chose not to continue w/Oura. Thanks for your review. I now feel more confident of replacing my Oura with Ultrahuman.

  4. I would like to know if anyone changed his behavior to optimize and felt better. I assume tracking does not change anything but creates big data. Still my inner nerd wants one😅

  5. I am looking at buying one of these things currently and the symptom/lab thing Oura is doing is very intriguing, although only for iOS users currently for some reason. Any thoughts on this area of the offering/functionality?

  6. Amazed I only found this video now: my wife recently upgraded her Fitbit to a newer model, and I inherited her old one (which, happily, came with a one-year Premium membership when I re-registered it in my name). Like you, I double-wrist it with one of my watches daily, and that's gotten old PDQ. The Oura didn't quite appeal, and the Ultrahuman is close-but-no-cigar. But , my hopes are currently hanging on Samsung's Ring, partly on account of having a Samsung phone, and also because of the possibility of NFC capability being part of the package. (Imagine: using OMNY on the subway of bus in Gotham gets that much easier than whipping a phone out.) Time will tell. Thanks for this!

  7. I'm lucky that I took an Oura ring right from the beginning when it wasn't very good. As such, I managed to be one of the niche users that get a lifetime free membership, therefore no fees to be paid.

  8. I stumbled upon your video because I want to wear a wearable that is not a watch / wrist band.

I like my classic analog watch and I am not going to wear another watch on my other wrist 😂

Thanks for the helpful information. A ring is indeed another good choice. Uktahuman looks good, but maybe waiting for Samsung or Apple to enter the market is a good idea.

  9. Tidbit about the Oura ring, it only takes your temperature while you are sleeping not throughout the day, so a shower would not effect the reading. Also It gives you an above or below reading of the temperature, not the actual degree. I am unsure about the ultrahuman. I got the oura ring for fertility tracking and specifically the temperature reading.

  10. My Oura ring is essentially dead. Won’t hold a charge and the company won’t or can’t do anything. So that’s a $300 plus mistake for something that is now sitting collecting dust. Never again

  11. Have original Oura Ring no charge use with app. Will not purchase new one that charges me to use it period.

Will use my orginal Oura ring until it dies. They will look around to see what I can get at that time that does not charge me anything more after the purchase of the ring.

  12. It is not a good choice to do a placement for ultrahuman, if you compare these two rings imo, although your review still seems to be fair and honest.

  13. Oura was great until it stops keeping the charge right after the expiry of the warranty (one week after the warranty expiry). The customer service didn’t propose a replacement, but just a pretty low discount for a new ring… Honestly I would not recommend it.
