Why America’s Littoral Combat Ship is NOT in combat
Why America’s Littoral Combat Ship is NOT in combat
What went wrong with the Littoral Combat Ship and did we learn any lessons? Despite the very different appearances and machinery of the two LCS variants, the Freedom and Independence classes were built to have the same overall capabilities. First among these were speed and maneuverability in shallow seas. Both variants have drafts of less than…

3:25 dd you say deep draft holes?
FFS! It’s “strike”, not “shhtrike”.
China’s laughing their asses off, “Chinesium quality? Lmfao at least our ships sails”.
Aluminum is the problem . They constantly build bad ships at austal something isn’t working
Sorry Task & Purpose, but we have to pass the bill first in order to see what is in it….
~Nancy Pelosi
Why…thousands of contractors lobbyists &political criminals reciving millions of the peoples tax dollars to split up amongst themselves….
Thats why
The military industrial complex huge win. What happens when the oligarchs own the congress. Seriously, none of the big weapons systems these idiots are building these days make us safe, just make the oligarchs richer. Hypersonics have made the navy obsolete. The empire has had its time. Time to go out gracefully
People confuse Littoral Combat Ship with Literal Combat Ship.
It is LITERALLY not a combat ship.
As a Littoral Combat ship it gets to hang out close to shore so the sailors
can ogle young women swimming at the beaches.
I hope this finally ends the confusion.
It like they tried to build ships with similar size and capabilities of coast guard cutters and failed.
When people refer to inanimate objects as 'she'. WTF.
The early 2000s were an amazing time, we could build anything, and EVERYTHING was named "freedom" and "valor" or "independence". Not very creative, but fun.
It’s littorally useless…
lets be honest… they float. they can be fixed. they can be up armed. they can at least be used for coastal defense of the main land us after all that. but they are flawed and should be removed from any future main missions. coast guard could take em after repair and refit. give them some use.
It was a con job to throw a bone to the “Defense Contractors “. There was never a need for these so called “War ships”. Even the Coast Guard doesn’t want them.
money for weapons contractor companies who then lobby to congress.
corruption
the f35 was an insanely expensive fighter and it still cant perform like they stated. Its also near obsolete already due to drones and aa advancements.
corruption is a heck of a thing
Empire in decline
Never should have decommed all the FFG's, they outperformed LCS's in every aspect
Does anyone else want to put a cheeky little "C" at the start of that name?
Weird name for a ship as clitoral???
A disaster. Remember when it was pushed by idiot Admirals.
Understand that we've gotten to the point where a 'destroyer' is a heavy combatant.
Heh. Things never change in the defense industry. "Oh this thing will be so inexpensive that you'll be able to pick them up at Walmart, and you can get a kajillion of them for less than the cost of one of your old capable ships!" they say. Then ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS it's "Uh… this is gonna cost the taxpayers a BIT more because… the company execs are looking at a new retreat in Tahiti and Cancun…" It's ALWAYS cost overruns. The defense industry NEVER builds anything on time and on budget, it's ALWAYS "cost overruns" and it's always years or decades behind delivery schedule. If this shit doesn't reek of either incompetence or corruption (could be both, too) then maybe I should start selling you stuff as well. I have a neat bridge for sale in Maryland, it can handle a quadrillion vehicles crossing it per second and now it's for the low low price of below sealevel. Yes, it's a sunken bridge, I designed it this way so it wouldn't interfere with port traffic!!
It would be interesting if SOMEONE in the DoD started holding defense industry corps to their freaking word when they lie their asses off about how much something is going to cost and when it will be delivered. They sign a damned contract yet they're able to break it any time they want – is it written into the contracts that "Hey, We The Defense Industry Thieves can screw the DoD over anytime we want with no repercussions" or something? C'mon folks, they do this all the time, at least since Reagan was elected (everything horrible always traces back to Reagan) and it's time this shit stopped.
Oh. And "friggate" ? One of your slides.
When was the last time the military ordered one thing and then tried to fit in a lot of extra garbage not mentioned in the specs?
I wonder if there are shipyards located in allied countries in Europe which do nothing but build corvettes and frigates. Seeing as Europe is surrounded by littoral waters.
0:51 THIS IS THE RESULT OF MODULARITY.
RIGHT YOU JUST SAID IT.
THANK YOU READ MY MIND , LIKE THAT TEACHER LADY ON THE SHOW I WATCHED WHEN I WAS 5 YEARS OLD
CALLED ROMPER ROOM SHE HAD A MAJIC MIRROR " I SEE YOU DAVID, STOP PICKING YOUR NOSE"..…….*_°
THE NAVEL ARCHITECT PROBABLY HAD LITTLE FIELD EXPERIENCE AS HE WOULD KNOW DIFFERING TYPES OF METAL
NEVER REACT WELL WHEN JOINED, THEY EITHER FIGHT EACH OTHER FLEXING DIFFERENTLY IN HIGH SEAS ,AND
CRACK AT THE WELDS AS THIS STRUCTURE HAS AFTER A FEW MONTHS.
I HAD AN INSTANCE WHERE ALUMINUM WHEELS COLD WELDED THEMSELVES TO THE HUB IT TOOK ME A FEW HOURS TO SEPARATE THM.
DOOMED SHIP .
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA, OUT🔱⭐.
It's almost like Congress doesn't want the Navy or United States to do well, who would have thought? Somehow these people keep getting put into office, I wonder what's wrong with that system?
