  1. Shogun pays respect to the history of feudal Japan instead of treating history like an inconvenience. Unlike that certain documentary on Netflix trying to brainwash the masses

  2. The short answer to this question is the black people were NOT IN JAPAN. There might have been a few blacks in feudal Japan before it was closed to foreigners during the Tokugawa shogunate – possibly brought on western trading ships. But if they were one person in a million or even 1/100,000 why would you expect to see one in "shogun"? In case it comes up, I lived in Japan for 5 years – the Ainu are not black. They are Asians that look like there is a slight bit of Caucasian in the bloodline – a few have blue eyes.

  3. Dude… Their were barely any foreign people in japan around this time at all. let alone any african people. I mean there were and a couple had a hsitroical involvement in japan but cmon this is ridcilous. IF they read the history books japan was a mostly isolanist nation in this time period. hell even the dutch, spaniards and english were barely in japan and heavily restriced in those times.

  4. Very good Video. Nice to see someone who has insight, respect for real history, and the ability to see it in context. Many people these days get confused cause they only see it through their own narrow and limited lenses. And hence we see all the fan fiction and woke narratives! The race and gender swaps are extremely insulting for everyone who cares about actual history!

  5. This is RIDICULOUS and disgusting. Anyone who asks these sorts of questions shows total ignorance of Japanese AND Black History. It is LUDICROUS. We cannot judge the past makeup by the present. In 1600, there were no indigenous Blacks in Japan . But then, I am only a professional historian, and a noted specialist in Black History at that.

  6. People saying ''Where Are The Black People In Shogun?'' well you could also say ''Where Are The Black People In Japan?''…there is a same explanation to both of these answers…this is normal for a show that's set in Japan…they barely have black actors or black actresses within shows or movies even within anime that's in Japan…this kind of thing has been going on since the dawn of Japanese entertainment whether it's on screen or stage…black people are very hard to come by in a lot of parts of Asia which is why we don't see a lot of them within Asia's entertainment…what they are doing in this show is based on their culture and because it's set within their culture you will not see black people within this show because it's accurate to how it is within reality set in Japan. Wanna know why there are no Asian people in Africa? 🤔

  7. Suggesting that the Ainu is black is not only disrespectful towards the Ainu but outright disregard and deny the Japanese Nationality of these Indigenous people and propagate racism toward them.

  8. Why do the people who start this shit always seem to think only Black people deserve to be put into everything. A black Robin Hood, a black Cleopatra, black Norsemen… It's getting really silly.

  9. I'm African American and for the most part we weren't over there like that. We have a few very notable brothers out there in that era but not enough to show up in huge numbers on the set of a show like Shogun. The show is fire anyway. Love it 9/10. And Africa is the most genetically diverse place on earth Btw.

  10. Right off the bat even the idea going round this is a white saviour story is completely wrong.
The book, 1980 adaption and 2024 adaption all show that John is really just clearly the pawn of Toranaga. He might be the protagonist of the story by structural perspective but he is clearly not it's driving force or the one who concludes or resolves the events happening around him.

  11. there is nothing organic in Diversity, rather put black people in positions where other people mostly white are better qualified and suited to pander to the WOKE society.

  12. No, you are definitely not an expert.

The ignorance in the comments is astounding. Its obvious that you do know that there is a PYRAMID in Japan. It is off the coast and underwater. So did the Japanese build it? You do not know that the EDO, as in the "EDO Period" are a West AFRICAN tribe, whose empire reached through China and into Japan. So they were present, occupied and ruled the area. They were later expelled, which is why Japan closed their boarders to outsiders. The Japanese has more African ancestry than any other Asian Population and and many of their words and names are the same or similer to the EDO Tribes in Africa. China has a PYRAMID, Did the Chinese build it? England was originally inhabited by Africans and had set up kingdoms before being invaded by the white hoard. The original inhabitants, the PICTS, were black.
As for the Egyptians, DNA has determined that the all of the Pharoahs up to the Ptolemaic period was of AFRICAN, not Middle Eastern descent. Also, DNA has determined that the " European Jews" have no DNA connection to Isreal. Also, the British Museums have admitted that the paintings of the original Black Royals, Including King Henry and King Charles were repainted after the Black Jews and Moors were expelled from Europe. The Catholic Church sanctioned the expulsions and even had a ship named JESUS to take the black Jews to Carriabean Islands and the Americas. The Pope recently apologized for the Church's sanctioning and participation in the slave trade. We are in a period of truths being revealed. Your Neanderthal DNA means that you are not fully human. So, where did you come from? Children of fallen angels. All of South Asia have African tribes that have been there for more than 10,000 years. What makes you think that no Africans were in Japan? The Olmecs, Africans, were living and thriving in America before both the Aztecs and the Maya. In Christopher Columbus' letters to the Queen, he reported that when he arrived here, the land was populated by Africans or Negros. Good grief! Btw,JESUS and GOD are also BLACK!
    DEAL WITH IT!

  13. Actually, Ainu people tend to be LIGHTER than Japanese people. They were originally confused for being part white. They're not, but they do share some Ancient North Eurasian origins with Native Americans and Europeans.

  14. They're picking the rice. There!

You want to guess where they are in ancient Ireland?

Yep, you guessed it, they're picking the potatoes.

I mean, wtf! Why aren't there any blond haired blue eyed people from Sweden in the African tribe in, The God's Must Be Crazy?

Where are the black people in Shōgun? What a stupid question.

Why is it this question was never asked for the last 400 something years until the chronically offended and professionally victimized millennials and gen z generations demanded an answer to it?

The Story of Shōgun starts in 1600. Well, where were Africans at that time who were not in Africa? They were just starting to be shipped to America to be slaves at that time. So, that answers your question. That's where they were. That's why they were not in Japan in 1600.

  15. There was an African there though. 20 to 30 years before the events in shogun take place he likely died with oda nobunaga. So that's why there are no black people in shogun. History is our greatest teacher.
