When Black Actresses Follow The Yellow Brick Road

There has been a lot of conversation lately about the treatment of Black Women in Hollywood especially when it comes to pay disparities. In this video I give an in depth discussion about the treatment of Black Women in Hollywood in the past, present, and how it relates to The Wizard of Oz.

  1. I’m a Celebrity Makeup Artist and I’ve been doing it for 37 years.

There’s one thing that still baffles me is that NO ONE SEEMS TO THINK LETS HIRE BLACK MAKEUP ARTISTS AND HAIRSTYLISTS!!!!!! Black people still complain about white people doing them but no one think about simply hiring black professionals to do those jobs! Employ us! Hello! We’re out here but here’s the trick…if you have to hire black makeup artists and hairstylists is they do not want us on those jobs and especially do not want to make us department heads on those jobs which means we are in the Unions for Makeup Artists and Hairstylists!

  2. I'm really feeling it's unfair to Label everything Black against ? Black agenda is against anyone who doesn't give them free access, free shit, basically "a free pass." Essentially, not having to wait in line and cut in front of others, & go to the front of the line. A free pass when they commit crimes, because it's "racism" & to hold them accountable for those crimes or reckless behavior. Then Societal privilege. I saw a advertisement for "Empowering Pregnant Black Mothers." What about ALL PREGNANT MOTHERS…NON BLACK PREGNANT MOTHERS? Aren't they just as important? Aren't their babies important? People today are being ABUSED by the BLACK LIVES MATTER & OTHER BLACK MOVEMENTS Because they are not doing anything, yet having to take the ABUSE from Black People for their own issues, instead of taking responsibility for their own behaviors.

  3. No you dont have a career like MS. There arent many black writerrs in Hollywood. Who fault is that? Stop asking Irish and Italians and Jews to write black films. Thats just silly. Not to mention, you dont get paid as much because you get paid based on ticket sales your name alone can bring in. Well over 1/2 of America dont watch black movies , and they certainly dont know who Miss Davis is. Denzel…I promise they know who he is. Thats why he gets paid. Black folks got to start they own companies and stop looking for white folks to make a space for them. That aint their job.

  4. With all due respect, I agree a hairstylist SHOULD be versed in doing all kinds of hair. But it’s not equivalent to the example you gave. As an actress, it would be like someone asking you to act a role in French or Korean. You can be “professional” and well versed in your own language as an actress and still need training and experience to do it in another language.

    It’s more like that.

  5. This is excellent. But remember, Blacks have a history of doing this in America. In the West, cowboys created their own settlements, only to have them torn down. With the Ebony Fashion show, Blacks created their own major fashion show. Blacks are on streaming channels creating their own movies. Black scholars have written books on Black history creating another narrative of Blacks, this is constantly being challenged by the larger society. All are or were valid, those they are not getting the recognition or pay equal to that of Whites. This is true with other nonWhites as well. Blacks should continue to do both. Create their own content and challenge the larger society for not getting the recognition/pay the larger society is profiting off of, by having Blacks contribute to their industry.

  6. It's clear evidence of injustice. However, as long as people are participating in every western generational tradition, there's no reason for a change. Every year most folks ignore the pain and struggle of their ancestors while actively celebrating birthdays, fourth of july, thanks giving xmas, and many more, etc, etc…Just to mimic a society that has no moral compass. People don't realize, energy wise, it's saying all of the mistreatment is Okay. The oppressors are using people's own energy to repeat the same cycle year after year. A system that places values on status and income. Just the fact these actors are complaining about not getting paid their worth is still in the stimulator. How about someone who's making minimum wage. Is that their worth? No amount of money can ever sum up to a person's worth. Our true worth comes from within. Frankly, it's ridiculous for a person to get paid millions of dollars for a movie. Which by the way, were actually paying through taxes and over priced living. Meanwhile, an average family can't even meet their needs comfortably. But in sum, the only way anything is going to ever change is through evolving by saying no to consumerism and any repetitive cycle they call tradition. Know OneCellph! 😂
