For a time after the border to Ethiopia opened in 2018, the government did not restrict departures. At the end of 2018 and again in April 2019, however, the government unilaterally closed several border crossings and reinstated the exit permit requirements. After the Eritrea-Ethiopia border opened, the number of fleeing Eritreans, especially unaccompanied children and women, increased. Hundreds were reported to flee daily in early 2019."

  14. The people of Eritrea are wonderful, but there are no elections here. Since 1991, President Isaias Afwerki SOLELY controls both the military and the courts. There are extreme abuses being committed, as documented on video, which is why permits outside of Asmara are almost impossible to get. Research this for yourself. It's not difficult to find.

  15. So you're saying Eritreans are not forced to either join the military or be put in concentration camps, where there are men, women and children who are tortured and killed??? Are you saying Eritrean people are not being killed for trying to flee Eritrea??? Go watch "Escaping Eritrea" or "Eritrea to Israel: Dying to cross the border". THIS IS HAPPENING IN 2022.

  17. She needs to speak about the illegal sanctions and destructive policies of her country, US and EU on the nation and the Eritrean people. Perhaps she is one of the spy agents sent in the name of a Tourist. Remember, there were some British mercenaries found with weapons in one of the islands 🏝. They were caught and arrested. It was the mediation of Qatar that made them to be freed. My point, every country has its own security measures in place. She is not a different creature to merit for a different treatment

    It's Eritrea and depends only on Eritreans.
    As a visitor and do only what it took you there unless you are a secret B agent or CIA of the Western. You want to open and see the containers, what for?
    Just for your FYI, you are not invited again or else you will be rejected for no reason to visit any city other than Asmara.
    I hope you know why you have been rejected to go to anywhere you need to go. If you don't know why, it's simple, you are just not a visitor, you went there for your own purpose and the Eritrean government knows you.
    Question tho; why do you care about the happiness of the Eritreans?
    Why do you care about Eritrean national service?

  42. She can freely say what she wants to say, and that is fine, but her views and assumptions are as detached from reality as they can be. Did she mention about the real dangers whites pose for the security of the nation? The very member of American Embassy went around Eritrea freely and return to his country and what has he been doing since? What is the reality in Eritrea and Ethiopia during the period she visited Eritea? Did she even give a mention to it? She definitely is an individual with her own agenda and how do you tell what she really went to Eritrea for? That she decided to do her intro at the end …gives a clue why! Do we need her type to visit our nation? Not one bit. She seems far from being balanced in her view and we do not need her to lecture us about our policies and defense needs. She definitely does not the qualifications to us about our needs and we have to defend ourselves against from the West for the last 31 years in terms of covert and overt sanctions. Does she give a clue what that means? Does she even have a grasp of it? So, we have seen them come as Nuns and yet walking around the streets of Asmara recording stuff that belies a motivation. So we do not need anyone to lecture us when it comes to our national security especially from Whites!!! One has got to call a spade a spade. We have been having grief from the West since our Independence in 1991!!!!!!!!!! She has an axe to grind and she is welcome to it and if she never goes to our country again, good riddance!!
