After the Tennessee legislature expelled state representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson for protesting inaction on gun violence last year, more people became aware of how the state’s Republican supermajority operates. However, there are Republicans and Democrats who say the current way of doing business is making it hard to get any…

  1. The Democrats take the official position that black people should be segregated into their own districts and all all Democrat attempts to gerrymander involve this concept.

Hasn't worked out well for black people

  2. The United States has become a banana republic. It seems that under the Biden administration this country is now politically unstable and run by a dictator and his cronies set on eliminating their strongest opponent (Donald Trump), who is running for the office of the President.
Biden and the Democrats are making it perfectly clear that they and his administration are corrupt leaders.
With the backing of a weaponized DOJ and left wing media Biden and the Democrats egomaniacal quest for prolonged power are in fact yielding a banana republic. Further, this is for the purpose of forcing their far left agendas in their long term goal for an autocratic government by an oligarchy on We the People.
Time to clean up a corrupt government.
    🇺🇸Vote Trump 24🇺🇸

  3. Why hasn't anyone challenged Tennessee's gerrymandered districts in court? That has happened in Alabama and Virginia, and North Carolina. It has happened in heavily gerrymandered New York state, that was heavily favoring Democrats.

  4. Great report. Lifelong Memphian here and it is so so hard to be optimistic about Tennessee at this point. The Republican majority in this state does not represent us.

  5. Free Free Women Minds and Bodies Must be Free for Slavery Butchery by Islamic Muslim Arab Palestinian Religious Persecutors persecution. Thirty-seven percent of Arab women are reported to have experienced some form of violence in their lifetime, though sources indicate that the true percentage is actually higher. Two practices that fall under the broad and ugly umbrella of gender-based violence and control are female genital mutilation (FGM) and child and forced marriage (CFM), which together affect tens of millions of Women 1:27

  6. Does anything exist besides Nashville because last time I checked Memphis (city proper) and two West Tennessee counties were blue too. The state has penalized all of them for being blue. Jackson, TN is not considered a small town, it has its own metropolitan area with just over 100,000 people.

  7. The fact that the two black legislators were ejected but the white legislator wasn't tells you ALL you need to know about the motivations behind Tennessee gerrymandering. It isn't a coincidence that it went into overdrive after Obama was elected.
It's all about race and keeping black voices out of TN politics.

  8. Things are not going to change here in Tennessee until we stop voting in those hating, fear-mongering, Trump-loving authoritarians.

Instead of enhancing gun laws, they passed "constitutional carry" so anyone can carry a gun whether they know how to use it or not. Instead of supporting public education, the governor wants to bring in a conservative, Christian college from Michigan to run the education system. And I can't begin to tell you some of the laws the state legislature has tried to pass or successfully passed that takes local control out of local hands.

If you're looking for Tennessee to become an example of fair practices and civil debate, you have a long, hard road ahead of you.
