In studying the Saints, it is easy to remember that every one of them, despite their many achievements and illustrious expressions of sanctity also demonstrated their frail human side. The Angelic Doctor St Thomas Aquinas argued against the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady. Thanks be to God, the Church supported the Franciscan School which championed the Immaculate Conception also cherished by Sts Bernadette and Catherine Laboure and of course, all the Franciscan Friars who labored as missionaries to the New World. Sometimes, even Saints can get things wrong! Pray for us, St Thomas that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
