  1. As a Korean, not an excuse, we do think that the clean and decent appearance including facial, clothing and body shape, is the measure for the ‘self-management’. I’m a 5’11 and 200 pounds. and I consider myself a fatty, and most of Koreans will, but it seems quite generous standards on fatty in western countries.

  2. people over 55 kgs are considered very fat!! I guess it's because Koreans starved for so long that being stick thin became the norm, they should take care of their mental health the same way they care for their appearance!

  3. i am 60 kg right now my mom will kill me if i even reduce 100 grams of my weight she will scold me if i skip my meals . no one says me i am fat .all she says is we are not eating in outsiders houses so you should not consider other people opinions about your own body and stay healthy its your body its your choice to reduce it or not

  4. The proportional standard starts at 5 foot which should weigh 100 lbs., then for every inch of height add 3-4 lbs. The same ration goes for under 5 foot but you subtract weight. But when it comes down to it, body fat is what counts, no one should be above the athletic range of 16% for men and 18% for women.

  5. I’m almost exactly the same height and weight as the english speaking woman, and I’m an XS in American sizes, an S in European sizes, and a medium in East Asian sizes 😊.

  6. It hurts to see this at 11 years old when you're 61kg and 163cm. It at risk of being overweight. I wish my mum didn't let me have a phone early. Now it's like a drug. And each day I find a new insecurity.

  7. Hmm. Many East Asian people have a relatively small body frame and small bone structure. (Ectomorph body type, with some having Mesomorph body type). This gives illusion of a leaner body.
I'm Central Asian, most of us have a mesomorphic body type, so I look slightly thicker/bigger than an East Asian
even though we're the same weight.

  8. 😮 I’m 154cm and I average around 57kg! My stats would be considered fat in Korea but I’m not fat at all! I have the classic Mediterranean body type.. which is very different than the average Korean body type!

  9. Im 5,8 and 75kg because i have got quite a lot of muscle mass yet quite al lot of fat, in general, i am considered normal with a bit of extra fat or just curvy and in korea i would be considered very fat or even obese then…

  10. I am Brazilian, i have half of the “desired” weight in korea in my butt only kkkkkk those beauty standards are brutal, but also speaks to their genetics. The genetics of my people are more Kardashian before ozempic than kpop stars.

  11. I’m currently dating a Korean guy and I’m a US size 12 but I have always been on the thicker, athletic side, and his parents think I am like morbidly obese and told him to take me to the gym bc they’re worried ab my health and want me to live a long life but I’m pretty sure that was their way of politely saying “man she’s fat tell her to lose weight”😅

  12. at least in Europe, all the things that are saying in this vid are considered eating disorders. i suffered from anorexia and what they are saying are the exact things i thought when i was suffering from it!

  13. I dont know if I can handle the scrunity of Korean people looking at my body. I am 68kg with 165cm, it's pretty normal here in my country.

  14. Let’s talk about being ugly then because you can lose the weight but ugly is forever. Being a healthy weight is legit considered fat in asia it’s not about health but about toxic beauty standards. Half the ppl criticizing you are ugly themselves or fatter than you so just please keep your opinions too yourself ik way too many ppl that are traumatized by this and it needs to stop.

  15. 58 kilogram girl’s face looks chiseled, either she’s extremely lucky or she works out a lot. My face is pudgy at 58 kilos, 17%body fat, and I usually need to be at 12% overall body fat to have a chiseled face.

  16. Korean women have the longest life expectancy in the world. Live 11 years longer than the average American. Basically, traditional Korean food does not cause weight gain compared to the American and European diet. Americans who say dieting is harmful spend the most obesity health insurance money in the world on obesity problems.

  17. It's kinda funny to me how this video came out without a single mention of the term "eating disorder". Because that is what this beauty standard promotes, anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. It's just depressing.
