@ContrarianExpatriate

Your notion of the “real south” is false. The South, like all regions of the world, evolves as time goes on. Who is to say the real South is more reflected today?

@user-wr1yh2zw6l

You wouldn't pick up one of my heirloom watermelons like that, they wouldn't fit in your seat.

@privateprivate4315

Yankees moved down here and tried their hardest to change the culture.

@ministry2627

Sounds like you are having a mid life crisis. As you get older, society changes. You need to adapt.

@meandean222

This government has worked tirelessly to kill all mom and pop operations, including the family run farm!

@weetodd

New Jersey happened to the South.

@TheBeaver50

I’m 49 years old and I’m in the mountains of North Carolina right now . We still here . The country is still here get out of the city .

@crankpump8444

Why are you so confused that the world isn’t the same way that it was in the nineties? The world sucks. This isn’t new.

@ianmshipp

God bless you and yours, Young Man. This is the query of many a befuddled Southern minds, most endeavored from beyond the insular confines of our beloved Southland because of the loss of our identity to whoever it is we somehow voluntarily succumbed to.
Initially as we are notoriously known as being violently defiant, insular, cagey, outlaw, rapscallion etc etc…the industrial north and it's predominant Anglo norman culture in its insatiable need for our natural regional resources had to secure our participation in its revenue schemes by any means possible, such leading to tariffs which under the guide of righteous abolition of servitude endured by our colored Bruthas and sistas, they certainly achieved their objective and how they sustained it was via forced occupation by northern entities which was usually endeavored illegally and highly unattractively at that.
My father, a very Good Man indeed, retired now several years from Southern Railway (Norfolk) and residing in Charlotte, has himself a brilliant spread of land there locally and you'd be damn near a fool in trying to sway him away from it, it's the main thing I believe that's keeping him above ground and looking down at it beneath his feet and he glows with love anytime he speaks of it.
Between his quiet passion for that very good dirt, and your spoken passion for the threat of it, I am seeing something essentially American here and what others may seem as individual perspectives that could well turn into collective perspective and to sit here and tell you that you are not alone, which I am doing, simply is the offer of the man who knows not enough of himself much less the others for whom he should know it all.
Sir, we are ignorant at best, we live in a perpetual state of regret via hindsight . We don't know what we have til it's been woo'ed from us via our neglect, thus, we deserve the hit of the loss, but not as punishment, only because we do not learn from our mistakes and we commit to them as if its some kind of resolution of sorts tempered with redemption, it's most certainly not, but that doesn't stop us.
My 14 paternal great grandeddy and uncle fought Ferguson and the Torries on Kings Mountain N.C. to render ourselves individual of Britain back in that conflict.
Later that man, those men, William and Thomas Shipp, would have grandsons who both from N.C. and Ga. Would again fight on American soil against a perceived foreign oppressor, this time, that very Anglo Norman industrial semi socialist United States, and in no way whatsoever ever was there any mention of freeing slaves, and 40 acres and a mule, or none of that hogwash…understand that our culture at that time, had just about everyone who wasn't the owner of the farm was in some way indebted to the farmer and our survival was tantamount to share cropping and most farm owners were operators, in the field, chopping and picking along side the help, who did I fact get paid, as was the case with George Washingtons own farm help, when he died they were found to have more liquid money in their possessions than he did.
Which is only symbolic of the times and the situational fodder by which now so many false fires are aflame and enflame us accordingly.
So, I may openly convey ignorance and a willingness for our segregation toward the Yankee, which at one time would have been the nail.in the coffin of the dispossession of our beloved South by the Southern people, but it's now just a hokey pipedream that we are secretly obsessed with which with each generation becomes a degree separated from its righteous origins.
In our heritage organization we are proposed to greet by motto, this being Deo Vindice, meaning God Vindicates the South, which is befitting as we are the apparent defacto bounder for villainy to most any disorganization that now comes along and needs its immediate counter part to play off of and make righteous its own askew inclination, most being of a Marxist origin.
I wish I could offer you resolution, hell, even an answer or two, but I feel only to have provided more questions, but my grandeddy always told me, if you ever need an answer, study the question, it always lies with the question.
He was another very Good Man, I hope with all my heart you find some peace in the answers you may well earn from your queries.
You are a Good man, a Good American, and have a lot to teach even if only by way of learning, but that's life, and so long as we can endeavor, live the life well lived, we just may get out of this place that we are at alive.
God bless/ Deo Vindice, Brutha!!
Thank you for letting me speak to you openly like this.

@unclejohnbulleit2671

I hear the pain in your voice, and I feel it also. Corporations are vile and evil today. I am older, you are around my childrens age, and I've seen more of what you speak. The Interstate Highway System and the increased availability of Television changed the accents of those in Appalachia. VERY few of us speak that way any more, like I remember from the early sixties. Modern communications have only increased this trend of loss. Add to that the loss of small, independent business to large box stores, the growth of Corporate media, fewer and fewer independent radio and television stations means we get fewer voices speaking about things. Everything gets consolidated, and power accrues to those at the top, however unworthy. I can give two pieces of "Unsolicited Old Man Advice" to you. Firstly, seek Christ. Secondly, get yourself a piece of ground, even if its just your back yard. Borrow a tiller and turn it up, weed it, and plant those seeds. If your neighbors don't like it, oh well. Grow what you can on your own. God Bless You!

@unclejohnbulleit2671

You are correct. My family was from Kentucky, a border state. Once the "big roads" (Interstates) went through, EVERYTHING began to change. Even up into Ohio we grew our own food, and most families had gardens, with many having small animals. I miss those days, and try to live that way the best I can now.

@DanielIvan707

The Democratics ruined all the cities, gotta get really far out for stuff to be normal. I remember all the stuff you talking about.

@vincemurry4201

MAN U R THE TRUTH.

@vincemurry4201

Oh yeah it's the youngsters

@vincemurry4201

I used to come from Chicago to Mississippi.
Living down here in Mississippi now.
It ain't the same.

@christ7594

Dude. I want to know too. About 10 years ago I spent some time in South Carolina driving across the state, county to county, through small and large towns. I was amazed at the number of manufacturers that were shut down and rusted. Drive on down the road and would see shopping centers gutted and empty. Homes broken down and disrepair. Downtown was vacant and not cared for. Just abouy every small town that was the case. Then there would be groups of young men 18-20ish just standing on the corner in the middle of the day. No job to go to. No schooling to go to. Just bunch of dudes hanging out waiting on trouble. The rot within our country has spread all over. Now I am in Alabama and see homes, nice homes, in state of direpair and full of trash. People walking the roads, zakked out on some chemical. People just rotting away with the homes around them. I am with you. I work to keep my kids out of the rot. What happened to this country?

@mikemiller551

Big government n free shyt happened. n Democrats.

@284Winchester

I’m a white guy from Georgia about 5-10 years older than you. I agree with you. We could have a long talk about this. When our grandparents and great grandparents died they took that self sufficiency with them.
When we were kids each small town had its own feel and culture. Now they all have the same corporate grocery stores, gas stations etc.

❤ peace my brother

@burtmantooth8913

They imported the 3rd world and it became the 3rd world

@tonetec

The problem down south is too many dusty ass people with bad hair doos.
From white dudes with mullets to black dudes with shit locks.
Its a mesd down there.

@sean-mi9ng

I'm 38 from Los Angeles. Even though LA is not the South, I remember how it was in the 90's up until the late 2000's. People generally were much more light-hearted and friendly. Now it seems that people from all walks of life have an underlying attitude. Nowadays you can't be very nice to people because they'll think you're crazy or take advantage of you. North, South, East or West, we're all dealing with this negative cultural shift in America.

@mikem820

Dude, are you crazy. The hateful racists in the OLD south would have lynched you by your private parts if you even talked to a white gal… and you wanna go back to that? Go watch the Emmett till story if you want a taste of what it was like

@ALFORDACRESFARM

The Yankees and Kali Karen's ruint Florida

@exstacc1886

The south's been neglected since the Civil War. This breakdown of our union yet again is one paved by the greed of Politicians and the white lies of millions.

@nftshiller8485

You are angry..I live in a town 98% white we have no crime doors unlocked kids walk around without parents we work we pay our bills….the problem with the area you are at is the people

@jay1hughes924

Maybe after years of talking down and destroying the country this is the result..

@jay1hughes924

The reason corporations are so powerful is because the government is too big!!! It's not just the South. it's the entire country

@meleepinata

Corporate homogenization. That's the culture killer. Streamlining. Dependency. The old folks before us selling off the old businesses.

@waynemuhammad1527

BLACKS IN THE SOUTH HAVE BEEN SOCIALLY ENGINEERED JUST LIKE BLACKS IN THE NORTH TODAY.

WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF SELF THE SOUTH AND THE NORTH ARE HELPLESS.

@hpvzchris

Don't worry. It will go back to this again. At least for those who remain..

If you want to KEEP your culture, you HAVE TO raise your kids in it. Family first. Public schools began raising kids for the gov't (& the big players rhat run it), not for families. "Leave 'em & your backwards community, get an education, & make a modern life FOR YOU somewhere else.
It's easier to control EVERYbody, when NObody has ANYbody.
THANK you for your heartfelt rant. I FEEL YA!

@Yallquietendown

I miss it too. I’m 35. When I was a child and teenager I used to stay with my grandparents for the summer they lived in the country, near Augusta GA. We did work with them everyday. Working in the garden, putting in fence posts, all kinda country stuff. Canning and putting up food. Church every Sunday. They also had friends they’d share their garden with neighbors and neighbors would share food out of their garden with them. We had to mind them too or we’d get spanked. I miss them dearly. Grandparents aren’t like that anymore. They don’t want to be with their grandkids they want to have their own life now. Don’t know how to cook. Probably cause they moved out of the country. I’m white by the way

@daveassanowicz186

Ban air conditioning

@daveassanowicz186

I know what you are saying

@savvv5416

Bro preach… I remember going to my great grandma's farm with my Grandparents and drinking fresh water out the natural spring. Eating real vegetables, slurpin down real watermelons…

I still maintain one of the main reasons they killed MLK was in his Dream speech talking about his dream of people growing their own food, making their own clothes and being self sufficient. Everything the corporations can't stand the thought of.

@user-uv7tz8wo2z

I am A white boy I love the southern stylistic of the south its about Family pride love Compassion but Seriously I believe the Communist is what did it. I live in Illinois my family is from Alabama here in Illinois they know nothing of fried catfish with Milk Gravey and Hot sauce and okra and polk sht get Rid of those Democrat Communist I Garenty you the South can be Great Again .

@susanpage8315

I was born yankee (Michigan) but married a man whose family lived in the south for 3 centuries (including POC). I raised my kids in the south and never tried to push my culture on people. I met other northerners who were not that way. They didn’t become part of the community, and they resisted understanding the southern culture.

@phabbletty

Bro, I seen the same thing happen to North Louisiana. It really started a notable change whenever they got cable TV… it corrupted the youth.

@ethanwall7951

As a Southerner, I do not know what happened. Our entire country is disappearing from us. Thank you for posting this I really needed this. It’s also happening everywhere, even southern accents are beginning to disappear as the new “Valley Accent” takes over the entire country.

@dmzabo3914

Isn't a shame how the Powers that be have destroyed the South & America in general. Not a White/Black thing but an American thing. Our America is long gone. This phone that I'm typing on is a reason for this. The Internet for as good as it is also is the demise of this World. 😢

@ScabiusSalamingus

Good speak. I enjoyed that while eating breakfast

@nakiapeavy7806

Microwave society. It's the youth. It's bad everywhere.

@GregPrine

I love you and the perspective.

I miss it too

Mississippi changed

@stubeast4031

I'm 63, i live in the South. The culture of the South is long gone. I have a lot of great memories, but that's all i have left. My kids will never understand.

@reneec4711

The South is not the same! People out here are ruthless

@reneec4711

The 90’s was the $h!+ ❤

@haroldferguson1483

Wasn't just the South man. I'm from Upstate New York. Back in the days you're talking about we lived the same way your grandparents did then too. Grew up on a farm. Exactly same way man. No joke. It's the day we in now. In my opinion it's got nothin to do with North and South. It all went to shit when my grandparents died too. Take care. Peace

@bksson2818

If you dont like the south…why are you still there? Its mot the north…most of the violence is from southerners on southerners 99% get the facts bruh.🎯🤡
