  1. This video has certain phrasing that is really weird. Such as ignoring the Hutu/Tutsi conflict pre colonialism (altho colonialism definitely made it much much worse), or saying the Genocide was so they "stayed in power", ignoring the Genocide was planned for months through the creation of militias and shipment and distribution of machetes with the very well timed assassination of the president (most likely by his wife and her extremist political party). Or the execution of moderates in office inmediately after, or how the government was so hyper focused on genocide the RPF literally just steamrolled through the coutry. The genocide wasnt just a political power grab, it was a singular focus of extermination resulting from racism and hatred.

  2. I was 4yrs old when this happened. I was too young to understand what was going on so as I got older I made sure to research and educate myself. I'm so heartbroken! This would have never happened if it wasn't for white colonialism. Rwanda was living in peace before the Europeans invaded and took over. I love my Rwandan brothers and sisters and may God continue to protect and watch over those lost in heaven. ❤

  3. No, they were majority Hutu,, and the FPR and Kagame used to do mass killing and put Hutu in mass graves, so they took the bones from those mass graves and pretended they were Tutsi's. even the DNA could prove them wrong, untruthful, and deceptive! If you don't believe it how Tutsi can be victims and still take power and control everything. The Hutu are more in numbers but they were exterminated and up to now they are stigmatized!

  4. Thanks for this educational piece.
    A few clarifications:
    1. The correct terminology is not "Rwandan genocide", it is "Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda". Rwandan genocide is used by denialists and revisionists who push the double genocide theory. And yes, Wikipedia got it wrong too. Reference UN resolution 2150(2014).
    2. Hutu, Tutsi and Twa were social classes. Hutu (peasants), Tutsi (aristocrats), and Twa (pygmies). It is the colonizers who turned them into ethnicities. Rwanda has the same language and culture. Rwanda only has clans and you find the same clans in Hutu, Tutsi and Twa.
