For anyone who wasn’t familiar with the Omar Khadr situation mentioned in the documentary, I did some research bc I had never even heard the name before so I was interested to see what it was all about & I am utterly disgusted by what I’ve come across.
He was born in Toronto and at 15 years of age his father (an Al-qaeda member) brought him back to Afghanistan. A firefight broke out between Al-qaeda & the US & Omar was wounded. Apparently he threw the grenade that took the life of Christopher Speer. That was what he was charged with and plus everything mentioned below, some of which had video evidence.
“Khadr is also charged with making roadside explosives for use against U.S.-led forces, spying on U.S. convoys, providing material support for terrorism and conspiring with al Qaeda to commit terrorism against civilians.
In a string of defeats for Khadr, the judge also said the anonymous jury of U.S. military officers could see a video showing Khadr helping a group of alleged al Qaeda operatives make and plant roadside explosives in Afghanistan.
The video was found in the bombed-out compound where Khadr was captured and badly wounded. Prosecutors successfully argued that U.S. forces found it independently several weeks after the battle, and did not rely on information obtained from Khadr’s interrogators.”
So all of this, only for him to be awarded $10.5 million & allowed to live here in Canada again, meanwhile vets are fighting years for compensation so clearly owed to them. Absolutely disgusting
I’m sorry to say this because I love what they are doing & it’s very honourable but the Canadian rangers is such a pathetic thing that we need as Canadians. Everyone’s trying to make it look so sweet and wholesome in this video but goddamn. We need elderly men and woman to be our eyes and ears of the north? If anything were to ever happen (god forbid) & we were attacked from the north from Russia/china, these poor souls will be whipped away like boogers…immediately. & for what? Because Trudeau doesn’t want to spend the money necessary to fund a properly organized facility up there? Oh right, the men’s bathrooms need tampons tho, Mybad. wtf is going on guys, for real.. this is pathetic.
