West African leaders’ summit opens as coup-hit countries form alliance

A summit of West African leaders has ended in the Nigerian capital with fears of disintegration.
That’s after military rulers of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso set up a new alliance to rival the regional bloc ECOWAS.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from Abuja, Nigeria.

  1. European Democracy in Africa is a trap of the Western Euro powers to control and exploit the areas of their interest. The AES is on the right track to reclaiming the greatness within African people.

  2. If ECOWAS and the AU provided any benefit then it would be something to consider, but both the AU and ECOWAS are useless. No need to hold on to old shoes that do not fit anymore.

  3. 50 years what has Ecowas done to members countries. Thieves. Now that they see mali.niger and Burkina want to care for their citizens as Gadaffi did. They are making noise. At the end of the day the see who is who.
You can not force a country to belong. Is an empty treat try and see.

  4. 😂 these guys are blind I see a European behind them that explains everything which kind of stupidity is dat the young people must wake up and take control of their nations these guys are in their dreams they don't even get ashamed Sahel alliance is the way to go and they will succeed

  5. African leaders might as well go have these meetings in a sleazy strip club. They never serve their people, and the people don’t care cause they’re busy fighting for their lives. 😂 we laugh, but it’s sad. Pray for Africa
