Was Yasuke The First And Only Black Samurai?

Yasuke was a 16th century African slave that found his way to the far east working for Italian missionaries and became an obsession and friend to one of the most influential warlords in Japan. Yasuke eventually took over as Oda Nobunaga’s personal weapon bearer, body guard, and — many speculate — earned full samurai status in just 15 months….

  1. As a Japanese I am mad that Ubisoft lies about our history
Yasuke was not Samurai because he had no surname. No surname, no samurai. Surname was that important in feudal Japan.
Ten men power is lost in translation. The original text was like he had a one on one match. He beat ten matches. It was not like a black guy vs 10 men. It was like a black guy vs one mam. He had ten matches.
No record of weapon carrier, sword bearer, bodyguard. The record says he carried tools some times. Tools includes armors, weapons, etc. Yasuke got only a shortest katana. No long katana. Stipend was given to people other than bushi. Samurai was upper class bushi. a person who seconded Nobunaga was Japanese in the record. So no way Yasuke was even there. Akechi Mitsuhide said of Yasuke as an animal and returned him to Jesuit.

  2. its really amazing how putting a black man in a video game known to be fiction, has everybody flipping through the pages of history just to make sure its not fiction, otherwise there will be an outrage hahaha, some things are truly amusing.

  3. The Japanese government has asked for black American men to come and impregnant their women so apparently they want to try and make another one.

  4. Yasuke was a rarity in old medieval Japan. If he were rare, there would be many records of him. However, there is no record of him as a samurai. (There is no record of his activities as a warrior.) He chose to run away and return to slavery. If he had the spirit of bushido, he would have died a spectacular death and left his name in history. His mental behavior in facing his death is not that of a samurai. (It's precisely because the flowers fall off and scatter that they are considered beautiful.)

  5. I am Japanese. Please understand that my English is poor.
Yasuke has few Japanese historical records. Before his appearance in anime and video games, he was not recognized by the Japanese people. Therefore, none of his activities as a samurai are mentioned. Yasuke fled to the missionaries and returned to a life of slavery. This is not the behavior of a samurai and is contrary to the spirit of bushido.
