Was Sha'Carri Richardson vs Elaine Thompson-Herah Really That Bad? Prefontaine 100m Dash Break Down

The Prefontaine Classic Women’s 100m was the deepest 100m field we have seen in 2024 so far. Let’s break down everything that happened.

  1. Don't talk about the past wins or past losses. Let's talk about the future. Your best is not in the past. You may have won 10 golds in lst Olympic Games but in Paris you have to win in the finals. And the fastest sprinter will win. And It will not be Elaine or Shelly or Ta Lou or Dina…. They are done.

  2. Elaine and Shelly are done. Shericka might medal in 200m. But Mckenzie Long, Sydney, and Gabby are still dangerous out there. Elaine received softballs from commentators — they are kinder to her last place. They condemned Sha Carri to death then for finishing last eventho Sha Carri wasn't ready to run then. Elained was fresh from her Tokyo win. This time Elaine finish DEAD LAST unceremoniously. And everyone is sympathetic. But she's so done.

  3. The greatest male sprinter of all time – Usain Bolt – had peaked by 30. This is natural for sprinters.
It's only because we're talking about yet another ridiculously hyped American sprinter that it's being held up as a sign of how much better Richardson is.
You all live in a reality separate to everybody else's, and you do it to yourself. It's embarrassing.

  4. Good job on your assessment of each runner The New Queen has a lot confidence in her abilities to win when a person has A1 confidence and natural speed that person is very hard to beat and that’s where The Queen is at and I believe she is living rent free in the heads of the 3 Queens from Jamaica 🇯🇲 because the way they did her in 2022 in the classic when she finished dead last and the Jamaicas had a filed day lol 😝 but she didn’t allow that to stop her because she believed in her self and beat all 3 of the Jamaica Queen to take theirs title of world champion and 🗣️The New Queen Ms Sha’Carri Richardson 🇺🇸 so the Jamaicas aren’t talking so negative no more because they are thinking and praying 🙏🏾 how do we beat her we can’t let her win the gold in the 100m 😢look at it this way we all have seasons and anyone of the women from other countries can win it too we 🇺🇸male or female haven’t won the world title as the fastest man/female in many moons 🌑 so good luck to all

  5. You can keep dreaming on. Why is it that every time Shaccari wins a race many of the STUPID AMERICANS BLOGGERS KEEP SAYING SHACCARI DESTROY ELAINE AS IF IT’S JUST TWO PEOPLE IN THE RACE. FIRSTLY, TEAM AMERICA SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR A SMALL ISLAND LIKE JAMAICA TO BE DICTATING THE FASTER SPRINTS. JAMAICA IS NOT EVEN AS BIG AS A CITY IN THE U.S. AND MOST OF THE TIMES WHEN THE U. S. WINS IT’S USUALLY DRUG RELATED. GO GET A LIFE. RUSSIA HAS BEEN BANNED AND YET THERE ARE MORE CONFESSIONS FROM U.S. ATHLETES. YET WHEN THEY DO THE FAST TIMES THAT THEY DO ARE NOT ERASED.
NONE OF MARION JONES FAST TIMES SHOULD NOT EVEN BEEN LISTED AND THE UNIVERSE COULD GO ON NAMING MANY OTHERS.
AT LEAST YOUR MIND IS OPENED.

  6. Great analysis. I also believe Sha'Carri is the gold medal favourite. Elaine form concerns me. If Lyston is fit that third spot could be hers if Elaine isn't ready. I also believe that Alfred could cause a stir in Paris as you said in your previous videos, which I welcome. Shelly, I think will be opening at the Racers Grand Prix this weekend. So we will see how that goes.

  7. I wasn’t worried about Elaine’s performance, initially . It’s her first race since last year so of course it wasn’t gonna be amazing. But I didn’t know she’d made a coaching switch since last year. I thought her new coach last year really prepared her well for the end of the season. So I was hopeful that this year, he’d do wonders for her during a full season. But I don’t know this new coach and what he can do. So that 11:30 looks a bit more worrisome now. But even then, you can’t count out Elaine.

  8. Remember when ShaCarri came in dead last when Elaine ran a blistering speed? Funny how things go. Sprinting is much more about mental fitness and calmness of mind then just foot speed. ShaCarri is doing exactly what I said she would do and that is continue to improve as the season progresses. She beat a loaded field without Shelly and Shericka and she won rather easily. I think Elaine will be alright and make improvements as we get closer to trials. I don't see her winning any medals if she even makes the team. But I would never doubt this woman as she is the second fastest woman of all times after all.

  9. I believe Elaine is fine. To me, she was working on her start only. She already has top end speed. If you all believe Elaine is not going to defend her titles, something is wrong with you. Shacarri has to actually win in Paris for me to be convinced she can beat a fit Elaine. Other than that, Elaine will be the triple champion.

  10. QUESTION…Does Olympic Champions get a bi.?? Because if so ETH has is technically qualified in both 100m and 200m. Or does this only applies to world championships only

  11. No need to make a big deal out of this. Last year ETH went down from 10.90s to 10.70s in about a month. Once she is not injured, it is not that difficult for her to do. We are talking about an athlete that already has the speed, not someone just coming up.

  12. Bro, I’m really on the fence with my girl Elaine. Anyone who sees my comments knows I’m american, ShaCarri is my baby, but Elaine has been my favorite since 2015, so you’re not gonna get a hateful, biased opinion from me…only fair.

Here is the thing…ShaCarri running a mere 10.83 this early in the season and in cold weather, makes me very happy, because it tells me she’s heavily loaded and on pace to run extremely fast in Paris. By far, ShaCarri is the favorite for Gold in the 100M, and this 10.83 convinces me her training is being perfectly timed. Elaine on the other hand, I do not feel qualified to make an accurate prediction, as I’m all over the place torn over: 1. Elaine truly has the best form of any female, and when she’s ready, she is READY TO GO…geez, that woman is the isht and can never be counted out! 2. Elaine had those Nikes in 2021 and ran her fastest time…like Kerley and Jacobs, none of them are nearly as fast without those Nikes & even Jacobs complained he wanted his shoes back. I don’t know if Elaine is back to “normal”, as the 10.79’s she ran the past two years are still on par with her pre-2021 best. 3. In this run, Elaine looked worse than I expected. Her warm up starts looked bad to me, and in this race, she actually looked FAST, but weak. I feel if Elaine keeps running, she’s naturally gonna get back to 10.7 this year, because she’s naturally that damn good. BUT, if I analyze correctly that she’s weak, there is no time for her to lift enough weights to peak on time for anything faster than a 10.7/10.8. 11.3 is not Elaine and folks would be a fool to think my girl is that slow…let’s not forget it was cold in Eugene that day and everyone was off their marks quite a bit.

I’m really on the fence, so I’m not really gonna comment too much on my expectation of Elaine. But, I have all the faith in the world if Elaine has a few more races under her belt before the Trials, she can get herself in 10.8 form, given she’s naturally very fast, just like Shelly snuck in a 10.77 when we all know she had no business being that fast last year. Elaine is a huge champion…she’s only gonna do but so poorly.

  13. I think that maybe Elaine didn't want to reveal her true speed just yet. Don't come for me in the comments, I'm just wondering because her last race last year she ran 10.7 off of an injury. I definitely believe that at Prefontaine Classic 2024 she could've jogged to 4th place. I wonder if maybe that was her strategy, to pretend to be slow?

  14. C'mon guys, Elaine has done 3 Olympics and won double-double gold. It's like fans don't understand athletes are human and subject to ageing. Sha'Carri is looking forward to her first Olympics and is current WC and in the form of her life. So, Elaine's performance is not at all surprising, especially since Elaine has always shown inconsistent form away from the Olympics.

  15. Shacarri is strong but I will still pitch my tent with the Jamaican trio.

Obinna can you stay one place? Pitch your tent somewhere!! This minute you are screaming Shacarri, the next minute you are saying someone else. Who are you betting your money on?
