It always amazes me how US citizens pretend to move to another country they like and at the same time think that comes without any kind of merging into the country. You emigrate to get a better Life and at the same time start be nagging about taxes and not wanting to chip in EVEN if you get a much better social contract.
Home schooling IS a crazy US occurrence.
In Europe IS considered near to child abuse. IS like having an unqualified doctor.
Why don't you stay at home and enjoy your school shootings, tax free?
Don’t even think moving to France without speaking french. Could you imagine a French person settling in Iowa without speaking english??
Hi-
Thank you for this informative podcast.
I am coming to France for my MBA this fall. However, I learned I can’t travel with my family to study.
In this situation, how can I bring my kids along? I really don’t want to leave my minor kids behind while I study in France. Can I just bring my kids along since they don’t need a visa for atleast 3 months while in France and later adjust their status before the 3months period elaspe? If not, What can I do?
It is discouraging that there are so many nasty comments here
You pay taxes after social charges here in France. depending on your situation it could be from 20-46% of what you earn and then you pay the taxes referenced. Someone earning 60K would pay well over half in social charges/taxes.
I am applying for a long term visitor visa in france. I want to be able to renew it after a year. should check the box that says "from 6 months to one year" or the box that says "more than one year"?
Great and informative video! I'm curious about Daniel's thoughts on Lyon – the expat community, the prefecture, etc.
Wonderful video
Daniel does not like retirees retiring in France. He said the law should change. It’s what he said in a meeting he had with Adrian Leeds.
if you come as you are with your current way of life without wanting to assimilate into the French population, without integrating the particularities of this country that attracts you and without learning French then stay at home. Otherwise: welcome
You need to check out the U.P. in Michigan plus not far from the U.P. in the lower top part of Michigan there is Torch lake which looks like the Carribean with the blue & Turqouise water. There is actually several lakes in the upper lower Peninsula that have water like that. Lake Superior at Pictured Rock you can see 30 feet down.
Une expression Française " quand je me regarde, je me désole, quand je me compare, je me console " … La France est très généreuse, pour la santé, les services … Didier Paris
Happy to be the 100th person to like this video!
Hi from South France (Perpignan), 🌴🌞
I want to clarify one thing.
In France, the legal retirement age is 64. However, it depends on the number of quarters contributed and birth year. You can't do what you want. It's for workers who have started to work at a very young age.
In addition, all this greatly impacts the monthly pension that will be paid.
"Legal retirement age (minimum authorized age)" doesn't mean "full-rate retirement" regardless of the number of quarters contributed.
The latter being, as in all European countries, set at 67.
Not knowing all these nuances, foreigners tend to think the French are happy and lazy welfare recipients. Which, faced with the facts, is an urban legend.
Pax, humanitas. ☮👈😎
Great video!!
If Americans don't agree to pay french taxes, please stay home and leave us the benefit of our health care system we pay for !!!
Americans innovate, Asians copy, and Europeans regulate.
Well, you'd better stay in your country and fix your local problems there. In France and in Europe, we already welcome refugees from anywhere but "the" best, largest and richest country in the world … and we're already drowned in your American junk food chains … and thousands of Brit retirees that set up ghettoes all over the country.
Sorry guys!
Do you listen to the news ? Do you know trump declared WAR with Europe claiming greeland by force ? Do you know that ? USA Go home !!
We don't want ANY US citizens here, no refugees here ! You don't agree ? Where were the protest in USA went trump claimed Canada, Panam Greenland ! Where were you ? So you AGREE. If ever i see a USA citizen here, he will know my name. USA GO home ! USA Go home ! You can stay in your S…hole country ! Yes ! USA Go home ! You'll soon be prisoners of war here. Just think instead of praying for once.
My American friend who moved to Portugal and learned the language- lived in France for years! She said also they are VERY HARD to make friends with. She said work folks do not become friends. period…and I'm pretty sure she spoke French, but she was in Paris…so maybe outside it's different.
YES, he hit it, the French regard themselves as the center culturally so they resent- English speakers approaching them…in their own country with a foreign language….and also another tip- we often don't greet "bonjour" that strikes them as VERY RUDE…
If you are fleeing from Trump, please don't come to France, go in Canada
It makes no sense to go through Paris if you're traveling to Bordeaux from Nice! Nice Airport is the third busiest in France, with daily flights to Bordeaux, and the flight time is at most one hour. Taking the train doesn’t make sense; and still, from Nice to Bordeaux, no need to go through Paris. it would be more expensive and much slower.
It’s true that France is very centralized around Paris, FOR TRAINS, but thankfully there are direct connections between French cities by plane, which are much cheaper compared to American prices.
I just checked the price of a one-way ticket between Nice and Bordeaux. It ranges from as low as €36 if booked two weeks in advance to around €120 on weekends.
Thank you for your excellent snd informative video. Your guest is excellent. I’ve been to France dozens of times including up to 3 months at a time. This march I’m returning for a month and will be looking at houses in the Limoges and Brittany areas. I am a retired US lawyer, live alone and at age of 70+ decided to go for it. A bientôt. Joseph.
