Tensions flared at the Assemblies of God Church polling station in the Ablekuma West Constituency, Greater Accra Region, following the arrival of a pickup truck carrying breakfast packs allegedly sent by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful. The MP, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is contesting against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Kweku Addo.

The food packs, according to Doris Boakye, a member of the NPP in the constituency, were meant for polling agents and Electoral Commission (EC) officials. “We just brought breakfast for our polling agents and EC officials, but NDC members are asking us to remove the vehicle. The food is from Ursula Owusu. This shouldn’t be an issue because it’s not for voters,” she told Citi News.

However, the presence of the truck sparked agitation among some voters, believed to be NDC supporters, who accused the team of attempting to influence the electoral process. Amidst hoots and jeers, they forced the vehicle to leave the polling station.

The pickup truck is now parked outside the voting center, where it continues to draw attention from curious onlookers. Police officers have since arrived at the scene to restore order and ensure calm at the polling station.
