Victor Wembanyama's Teammates Should be Worried

Victor Wembanyama will most likely win rookie of the year and has an outside chance at defensive player of the year. Either way the Spurs got everything they hoped for but what’s next? This is a look at San Antonio’s offseason plans to build around Wemby.

  1. I like garland (particularly more than Young) but 5 picks is kinda crazy even with protections. Plus he had a down year which means they have a bit more leverage in buying low. Johnson, Malachi, Toronto pick, chi bulls I like more but cavs would prob try get more

  2. To me biggest needs are shooting and defense. Def could use a proper PG but with presence of Tre jones and a very high assist team, the other needs might be more glaring.

Other needs are a solid backup rim protector, point of attack defender, and switchability through the lineup.

  3. When it's clear that we are at 4 & 8 in this draft,
I hope Spur to make it happen:

Magic get: Malaki + Graham + Hornet's pick
    Wizard get: Zach + No.8 pick + Bull's pick + 2024 Magic's 2rd pick
    Spur get: Isaac + Avdija

    For Magic,
Every team knows they are a ticking time bomb.
    They have too many bigmen,
and too many rookies to extend contracts in few years.
    Including Franz.W & Banchero's Max.
Graham is good for their cap space.
Also, we can help them with Hornet's pick for future talents, and Malaki for backup SG who can create his own shoot.
That's what they lack in playoff this year.

    For Wizard,
They are looking for another top 10 picks,
no.8 pick seems a good addition.
If they land Topic at 2, and get Clingan at 8,
the starters line could be like this next year:
    Clingan/Zach
    Kuz/MB3
    Bilal
    Pool
    Topic
    And still have 2024 1rd no.26 pick + Magic's 2rd pick.
They may back to top 5 seeds again in 2025's draft board,
Bull's pick will help them getting more advantages.

    For Spur,
This season Wemby is often defending two or more guys at same time, he needs some help.
Isaac can defend 1 to 5,
Avdija has solid defense + sneaky-good ISO + a little bit playmaking.
we will play swishing defense on front court sooooo well.
Plus, we can also avoid Wemby losing stamina quickly.

    If we go lucky,
we may have the starters line like this:
    Wemby
    Isaac/ Sochan/mamu
    Avdija/ KJ/Sidy
    Vassell
    Tre
Plus our own 2024 1st pick to backup

Even if we finally go for another PG with Hawk's picks,
this kind of defensive starters line will make it more acceptable.

  4. Sochan is a really good player and a good fit with wemby so trade Sochan for caruso without any first is a lose and if you add 3 1st round it's one of the worst transfer all time

  5. Wemby is too good, too quickly to waste time in the future drafts. Spurs need to attrack a top free agent in their early prime in the next year or two, and fleece some trades. Forget about draft focus.

  6. Trade idea would
    Cavs get
    Devon Vassell
    Keldon Johnson
    2024 spurs 1st round
    2025 Hawks 1 st round
    2027 Hawks 1st round
    2030 Mavs 1st round

    Spurs get
    Donovan Mitchell

    Then spurs sign lebron

  7. I was on board most of this video until the trade talks. He didn't mention a big reason for the Spurs potentially looking at Trae Young is that San Antonio has a bunch of Atlanta's picks for this year, so they could possibly get Young without having to trade a ton of guys like some of the other trade scenarios that were floated around. San Antonio's never been a super trade-heavy team either, so I'm thinking they're probably going to rely on the draft this year and, depending on what happens in this draft, play this season with what they have to work with. Pop has said multiple times he really likes his team makeup now, and has really enjoyed building around this team, I doubt they're going to want to trade the farm for Alex Caruso.

  8. Jaylen Brown BREAKDOWN you're next video A.M. 9. As a Spurs fan 1. No trades look good at all. 2. You said they are going to tank next year, nope the tank is over. They will play the 1 or 2 top lottery picks a lot next year but I expect them to be close to getting in the play in next year.

  10. The only Spurs players that might want to stay but should be worried about being traded or resigned:

Keldon Johnson, Devonte Graham, Zach Collins, Malaki Branham.

I would honestly love to go after Caruso!

    Keldon Johnson
    Malaki Branham
1 st round pick (least favorable of any of the 1sts we get in 2025)

    For

    Alex Caruso

  11. To be clear, if Sochan gets traded for Caruso, Chicago would have to give the Spurs multiple unprotected firsts. Apart from Wemby, nobody on the Spurs is untouchable, but the Spurs are very high on Vassell and Sochan and they both fall into that “he means more to me than you” category

  12. What I'd like the Spurs offseason to look like:
Sign Tyus Jones (3 years, 60ish mil?)
Trade Keldon + 2 1sts to Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges

Starters: Wemby, Tyus, Sochan, Bridges, Vassell

Bench: Tre, Collins, Rookies, Branham, Bassey (when he comes back), Champagnie, anyone else I'm forgetting + any vets they add

Both Jones brothers assure there's a high IQ ball handler in the game 48 minutes, Bridges can beef up both shooting and defense and be in a better role as a #2 or #3 option, young bench makes things interesting, still plenty of ways to pivot.

  13. Funny thing is NBA fans are all going to want Wemby to leave. If he leaves and immediately wins they will disrespect his rings saying they were easy just liek how they did to Kobe, If he stays like Carmelo Anthony and Damian Lillard they gon say he wasted his career and should have left after a season or 2. Nba Fans and media always have weird opinions and narratives and I wouldnt recommend listening to most of them because if you arent playing for their favourite team they are going to hate on you for no reason at all. Wemby should do whatever he wants.
