Mr. Hanson is a great American and scholar and I have read his book The Dying Citizen. However, when it comes to the issue of the campus protests he seems to contradict his otherwise vigorous defense of the 1st Amendment. The college protestors are protesting what most of the world sees as the attempted genocide of the Palestinian people in real time. To say that college protests “threaten” American is hyperbolic. It is political speech and action, just not for a cause Mr. Hanson is in agreement with.
