Uh-Oh, I Said Something Unsayable
We review the backlash over my comments that we should raise the retirement age; Special counsel Robert Hur goes to the Hill and proceeds to tick off Democrats hell-bent on pretending Joe Biden isn’t senile; and Republicans lose another seat in Congress.

The Daily Wire claiming to be: anti-elite, anti-establishment, anti-corporation, anti-status quo, and counter culture is absolutely laughable. They are exactly those things.
I'm one of those fools that paid off my own loans, own a house and worked outside normal hours and sacrafices along the way. Only to reach retirement age at the time Ben says it will all go kaput, I've invested some but probably not enough. I think it's all a big scam.
So we're all supposed to work until we die?
Ben has wisdom and maturity most people lack today. You think in simple "work bad, free time good" terms because you've never experienced both worlds. We take pleasure in the things we do in our free time because they're a way to blow off steam. If there's no steam to blow off, there's no pleasure. I would know because I was an overindulged and "failure to launch" kid and that's how I learned how work is integral to happiness.
The objections to this amount to: Waaaah! But I want to retire! I want it so its a human right!
Guess what? I want to live like a king without working at all. Does that mean I'm entitled to do so? Economics isn't about what you want, it's about what works and what doesn't, and Social Security is not sustainable. You could literally abolish the entire military and it wouldn't pay for the deficit Social Security is incurring. But get rid of Social Security and Medicare and you could balance the budget overnight.
You cry that Ben is a spoiled rich guy who doesn't care about the working class, but you support a system that taxes the working class to pay for the retirement of millionaires.
Thank you again, Ben, for having the courage to speak up about this.
this is like the final boss of bad takes
Ben Shapiro wants to use tax payer money for Israel instead of the people
Worst take ever by Shapiro. After a lifetime of work and service you are not deserving of any social security funds. Also Shapiro, we need to give billions of dollars to Israel and other foreign countries. Ignorant.
I generally agree with your opinions on most things. However, I cannot disagree with you anymore in regards to your opinion on retirement. It is just your opinion. As such, in my opinion you are just flat out wrong. I am one of those early retirees and it has been and will continue to be one of the best decision I have ever made. As far as losing my sense of purpose, that idea is completely ignorant. If anything, I have found more purpose. My identity was not my career. I'm not sure where the data you keep referring to came from but, I'm surrounded by happy healthy retirees who prove that data completely false. They are far more healthy and happy then they were in stressful, health killing jobs. Bottom line, you are completely ignorant about this specific topic. Don't get me wrong, I am generally a fan of yours but wherever you are getting your information and opinion on this topic needs to be reevaluated. How about just talking to actual retirees as apposed to those reading uninformed studies or news articles. Take care, hope you enjoy your career as much as I am enjoying my retirement.
You've never worked a real day in your life little child. Go take a nap
Who the f ….takes this psychopath seriously
You just lost a subscriber.
That's rich coming from a guy whose job is complaining about everyone who holds a real job and would never do the jobs he's complaining about.
I "retired" at age 40 from the military with income and medical care for live.I'm not rich by definition but I have supplemented working, singing and playing bass here and there, having a business working my own hours, got an associate degree (thanks to the G.I.Bill). Today I'm 70 years old and I've been collecting social security (along with retirement) since age 62 and I'm STILL not rich but GRATEFUL to GOD that He supplies, not necessarily what I want, but MUST DEFINITELY WHAT I NEED… And I'm not complaining PRAISE GOD!!!😄
I agree with alot of Ben Shipiro's points, but hes completely out of his depth saying people should retire older, or not retire at all. The people here deserve that right, we deserve more life balancing. I dont want to slave away my entire life working for some coorperation.
Ben, so glad you clarified what you’d said initially.
Many look to retire in their late 50’s and early 60’s because they want to travel more and then start something on a more flexible, part time basis. This is clearly not what you were talking about.
As for Social “Insecurity”, you’re spot-on. It’s on borrowed time. Personally, I’ll be quite surprised if it has any meaningful impact on my retirement life.
This guy doesn't under finance and start to make irrational argument. Do you even understand how retirement plan works. Learn before speaking.
Probably the only person on here who completely agrees with what he's saying because I didn't cherry pick the sentences I didn't like and roll with that as the message. He's right. If you're so uptight about what he's saying and your job is so tiring that you feel you're deserving of compensation for the work you've put in and you couldnt possibly see yourself contributing unil the day you die, that is a problem with the work, not retirement. The problem is our cultures view on work, what we are currently defining as work and the jobs they are consensually choosing. Yes, your purpose in life weighs more on what you do while you're here, not putting up with what you feel you HAVE to do until you feel you deserve 20 years of sitting on your ass and being paid for it. That's a personal problem. He is 100% correct. But in about 10 years, social security will start to immensely deplete, and you're going to have to figure something out regardless.
Then give me back all my fucking social security taxes with interest. Now.
It’s happening because of Democrats
Migrants and paying off peoples school loans is wrong
If you had a hard job you would not say that
well, companies want to automate at a pace faster than people can learn skills. we did it to ourselves
Ben Shapiro is an Uber nerd. He wouldn't know what to do with himself if he wasn't working because he never developed any other interests. This is not something to be proud of. 😀
What filthy, diseased world we have. A whole population stuck in the Hedonist Paradox. Ben is right and research backs this up. Study after study after study shows "work" is one the primary keys to happiness, right up there with "faith, friends, and family." My dad dreamed of early retirement since the day he entered the work force. Then when he retired, he found he was less happy and started working part time.
The pleasures of life aren't nearly as pleasurable if they aren't proceeded by hard work. I know because I grew up a pampered rich kid with "failure to launch" yet dreamt of nothing more than being an independent, tax paying citizen like I am now, and pledged to never retire until I was physically unable to work. People who criticize Ben Shapiro as being "out of touch" have only experienced one world. People who agree with him have experienced both. So who is really out of touch?
So, a couple of things. 1. I understand that a lot of people aren't built for retirement. But that's a regrettable thing. We would be better as people if we were able to just relax and consume and gain meaning from it. God willing, we can all go to heaven and do that there. 2. A big part of work is drudgery and other parts of a job that just suck. Coming in to the office on time. Traffic. Having a boss. Meetings. It absolutely makes sense to get to a point where you only have to do the parts of the job you enjoy, and get rid of the rest.
Ok Ben, I'm not "retiring" at 57. I'm leaving my current job to get back to back to music, which I used to do somewhat professionally iny college years – although I don't expect to make very much money in it anymore. So is that retirement with a major hobby, or a career change?
If you can give billions to foreign countries you can fix social security! Many ways to fix the problem but most won’t be happy with the sacrifices that it will take.
Ben has never worked on a roof or block laying, concrete finishing. He sits behind a desk in air conditioning and tells us to keep working!
Ben Shapiro has truly been making stupid remarks ever since last October, I think I'm done listening to you, especially after the Candace Owens thing.
