Uganda's landmark court case: 40-year sentence for LRA member Thomas Kwoyelo


A former commander of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army has been sentenced to 40 years in prison, in what prosecutors are calling a landmark ruling. Thomas Kwoyelo was found guilty of dozens of war crimes, including murder, rape and torture. It’s the first time Uganda has put such a senior commander on trial in its own courts.
