Ugandan athletes heart rate on easy runs
I have been using heart rate for training since 2021 as a way to keep my easy runs easy. I target a heart rate under my MAF and nearer to zone 2 though I struggle to do this consistently.
The athletes in Kapchorwa do the majority of their training as easy runs and do 3 speed/higher intensity sessions per week (track/fartlek/tempo/long runs)….

I find %of threshold HR for training to be a very good training metric.
Wow. Seeing you run with Ugandans and your PB is 35 min mine was 36 in university for XC 10km. I feel really good about it now 😀
Bro your production quality is top notch? Are you filming this all by yourself or you’re working with professional videographer?
I THINK THE HILLS ARE KEY. EVERYONE SHOULD RUN IN HILLY AREAS
Not sure I'd mess with a recipe for success, but just me
Woahhh 16KM pace 4:21 HR below 150….
Thanks for sharing! What are the altitude (m) and temperature (Celsius) there?
Thanks for the video and to the athletes for sharing their training insights. I determine my easy pace by whether or not I can eat a bunch of bananas whilst running.
What a great video! Also, Uganda looks so beautiful! I would love to see it for myself!
I use hr training. Easy runs at <150 bpm, 30' tempo runs at 170-180 bpms
Cool video.
Beautiful video
very nice good idea
Good quality video my friend. Liking the content, keep up the good work
zone 2 at a pace of 4:20min/km i cound't even dream of that xD
amazing!
Zone training so well explained, well done! Great video
Thank you for your willingness to collect this information and share it. I appreciate you all. 🙏🏾
YouTube recommended me your content. Glad to find a new coach. Thanks for the great info.
Great content! I subscribed and look forward to seeing more.
Why doesnt that one runner have a watch?
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing!
Good content, man. Proper talented runners.
Would be interested to see comparison between arm strap and chest strap for HR
2:55 pace on 1k intervals is sick tempo. I currently do 3:40 repeats per 1k.
Subscribed. what a quality content. so much respect for ugandans. I can see your channel will be big.
That's insane how their easy pace is my max effort mile PR. My HR is in the high 180's at that speed and I can hardly breathe, meanwhile, they are cruising with their HR in the 130's. Very impressive
🙏 so much respect to the athelete , they deserve more recognition . Thanks for making this video .
Great video, thank you and greetings from Belgium. I subscribed 😊
