I hate how they want to force her identity as black. The one drop rule isn't universal. She's not the one with the problem. The US shouldn't force its ideas on the whole world.
Tyla definitely gives uppity vibes but not because she's African, good lord. 😂 Just like Rihanna gives uppity vibes as an Islander or Ariana gives uppity vibes as a basic white girl, some artists are just uppity. More of her personality will shine through the longer she's in the spotlight, and eventually yall will see. 🤷🏾♀️ Some people become that way depending on how they were brought up and/or how conventionally attractive they are to the public.
The problem that Black Americans have with Tyla is the word colored period. Tyla has been told the history of that word in our country and she still use it. The word colored was a hateful word use to dehumanize Black American during the Jim Crow era. During this time the word colored was use to to segregate Black Americans from everyone else. The word colored depending on the user can be used as a racial slur. In America she can says she's mixed and people will respect that. There are alot of mixed people in the Black American community that look just like her. Tyla has been told that many times by our community and that's why she's not liked. Tyla isn't being treated any differently than anyone esle that we feel is being disrespectful to our community. When you go to another country it's important to learn about their culture and show respect. So if Tyla wants to go by colored in South Africa she can but in America that word will bring her lots of animosity.
If want to see change, tou got have people in position of power to make those changes. Also, you have to effect their money. Stop paying and stop watching and get invloved by applying for this management position s
Why are people going at her for? I don't mess with her music but I just skip things I don't want to see, if it bothers me there are options to try and see less of the content. So people are really hating her for things they can control, like their attention 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️
unpopular opinion time.. tyla is black. shes mixed with zulu heritage therefore she is black. i am jamaican and puertorican, therefore i have african roots and im black. no matter how i look, which a lot of ppl assume im south asian, i am a black girl! i am mixed, latina, and black. i am american and i dont understand why we put people in categories. its js stupid. im 15yo and already tired of ppl trying to put me in a category. im not super educated on this topic but this is my honest unfiltered opinion.
The music now a days in bad across most popular genres…and most popular artists out right now are mediocre. But I am old so, maybe it’s me. I want to hear some SANGING
Would Americans be happier if she said she was mulatto? Because we didn't want to be referred to as "coloured" but South Africans period, but everything isn't as black and white as we would like it to be, and these are the complications in life that we deal with. Proud of our Uppity coloured girl🇿🇦
What is she doing wrong? She is doing what girls do! She was excited and wanted to express herself, the award was heavier than she expected and asked for help. Americans are used to strong black woman vibes! Dont ask for help if you need it. Just suffer in your corner coz you black and strong. We don't do that in SA. We help each other and dont shame you for asking.
No, I am not a fan only because I never listened to her music. I found nothing the matter with her speech. She was clarifying which helped me. Leave that girl alone. There's so much more but we forget Trevor Noah is the same. He's considered colored too.
I respect Tyla heavy. She don’t be bothering nobody and polite but very confident in her own skin. Ppl who got an issue with her never have a real reason, it’s just petty hatred 😂
Y’all forced this girl to claim her blackness 😭

I’m not sure what the problem is🤷🏽♀️
She is Asiatic being as everyone else is due to having unlimited roots. Above so below let her live love and be young while she is
She’s at least half Indian. Her surname is Seethal and…have you seen her dad? Blatantly full Indian.
Humbling other people is real humble behavior 😂
Where are you eloho?
Tyla doesn't even look black, she is clearly coloured.
LOVE TEMS, she's so smooth.
She sounds really Indian.
eh leave her alone. We destroyed all our popstars in America already sheesh. this is why we can't have nice things
Did you say maternity leave?!
Was this an issue!!
We love Tyler in SouthAfrica bt she must change lote of redflag about her . Tomuch pride must change attitudes little bit an keep beauty to her self
In South Africa being an African is not all about colour 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Congratulations on your pregnancy

Americans will take their ignorance and make it everyone's problem.
