This is truly my favourite food on the planet!! Vegan Molokhia is delicious and it is good for you! It may be challenging to find the leaves but usually they are at Indian or Persian grocery stores!

  1. Akeem – your Auntie must have read my mind as I sit here and watched her open and drop the two bags of Molokhia into the warm soup I instantly thought how Okra looking it seems and low and behold to hear her seconds later state as much. So this is like what in Jam Down we'd consider an Okra pepper pot soup which similarly is eaten over ripe or with ground provisions. Is the frozen Molokhia cooked? I am a 'live' foodie and wanted to try this in my live pumpkin soup/broth. Is it possible to find this in Florida uncooked?

  5. Jute leaf, popularly called ewedu among the Yoruba, ahinghara in Igbo and rama in Hausa, is a popular vegetable in West Africa. The botanical name is Corchorus olitorius
Which is known as Molokhia in Egypt.
    Note: Try the African stores.

  6. Blessed Tuesday.
    This was beautiful to see.
Auntie is like all other aunties in the kitchen. Don’t touch while she’s cooking lol
Can’t wait to see more episodes.
    Give thanks!

  7. Ahh! I thought it looked like Jute. You can find jute leaves in the frozen section in Asian markets. I have some in my freezer to make vegan style Haitian dish called lalo legume. I can’t wait to try this recipe!
