Great video as usual, really a beacon in the internet golf YouTube world
Jay will you be testing out the new srixon irons soon.
Gee they look like my G730 irons. The big difference in these photos is my reinforcing bar vs the 440 "badge". The head looks identical.
How does 440 compare to i230 in forgiveness?
Good video just way to much advertisement and I can't handle that keep your video going it's good but I just can't have it I got to go
Good idea prior message comparing 923. I agree chrome is nice on irons and trucks
Outstanding stuff… but that's what you do! thanks
Great review again. Do you think you'll get the chance to test the ZXi7? Using the Z745s myself, I've always suspected Srixon's player's irons are a lot more forgiving than their shape would suggest.
How would the above-the-line look if you were hitting off a Tee? Heat map!
Another vote for a comparison with JPX 👍
The graph with the miss hit percentage loss was very interesting. I didn’t realize that strike location makes such a big difference!
Thanks for the video
Hm, looks similar to the Mizuno HM line.
Hi Jay, great review as always. Could you review the HL version for slow swing speeds since, as you highlight, the descent angle for 70 mph swing speed is marginal. Thanks!
Are you going to make a review of the new zxi irons? I'm really hoping you do. You make the best reviews of clubs on YouTube by far!!
Thanks again Jay
Yes it would be great to see the HL tested if you can please
I'm interested in knowing what swing speed is good for the HL? My swing speed is on the low end, around 94 on average with my Skytrak.
Sorry Jay i would like to see the HL tested. No hurry let your knee get better. Love the content of the website.
Great stuff. It would be helpful to have that "heat map" for competitor clubs so we can get a comparison. How does the G440 compare to the G430? The Mizuno HM? Etc. Thanks!
Ping G440’s retro spec 7 iron has same loft as the Mizuno JPX925 Hot metal HL’s 7 iron. But Ping’s PW is 2.5 degree stronger than Mizuno’s. I don’t understand why Ping is bunching up lofts on iron set intended for slower swing speed players.
How much difference are they from the G425?? Really?
The back makes it look like a toy.
These new irons look great, but I’m sure they cost more than my new Pxg Blk Ops irons which I’m very happy with & got the Hero discount. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Im sure youve been asked and Ive missdd it. Got a ZXi test coming hopefully?
You are the best at testing and explaining club performance. Glad I found your site.
Glad you did this review. I would have considered this iron, but you have already shown that the Hot Metal Pro has a much larger sweet spot.
Jay – did they give you the "retro" loft head? I was at Golf Galaxy and in their fitting cart they had a retro spec lofted 7i. I don't know if this is a first for Ping to include that in the fitting kit but it I have never seen a retro spec fitting head before. I didn't even bother hitting the normal spec head given my low 70 mph swing speed with 7i. it performed pretty darn well. even with my baby draw it had a peak height of just over 80' with a 43-44* descent angle and high 4k to low 5k spin.
Awesome graphics and insight again. The power spec looks kinda useful, I could just go 7-UW and get the same loft range as the retro spec 6-UW and buy one less club.
I do not like the look of the club from the back. The silver and black look is just too close to the look of many other irons and is a look I think will date quickly.
The idea that a "retro" loft 7i has a loft of 31 degrees is hilarious.
Against the negatives, the sound was a bit more muted than the very loud clubs Ping have had so the badge at the back works. Not for me but I would definitely recommend these
Loved the video, love the heat map comparisons. I’m getting new clubs this year and will be fitted for them. Looking for more distance and launch as I’m 75 this year. Like the look of this new ping, like the look of the new mizunos, can we get a direct comparison ? Although I’m a bit confused as to what the equivalent mizuno would be!
Great content, I would be interested in the HL test
Look like a cross between the Cleveland Zipcore & Mizuno Jpx 925 irons. Not the worst looking Ping G iron ever.
Looks more like the G730 than 430. I’m guessing this is more high handicap than mid. G430’s were suitable from high single figures to high handicap.
These look very similar to the new Hot Metal 925. And I am curious about their "power spec" and "retro spec" lofts. Are those just bent from the standard lofts, or are they cast that way?
G 425 or G 440?????
Looks like a cheap non branded iron
Top content again young man.
I just got my G430's. I've been to the simulator twice collecting data. I used the Tour B X , TP5X , E6, and the Chrome Tour X. On the avg, I carried my 7° TP5X about 189, BX 187, CTX 184, and the E6 184 (5ea). I'm standard black dot with the Nippon Pro Modus 3 tour 105 stiff. I'm a 15 handicapper with a swing speed ranging from 87-93.
Looks a bit like the JPX 923. Any interest in doing a head to head with the 923?
Biggest change I see over g430 is that they have sorted out the lofts
Hi Jay, this club in the retro spec would be extremely promising for slower swings plus its looks has improved significantly. Cheers.
Heat map nowhere as impressive as the JPX925 offerings – agree?
