  1. Ok i get it but please explain my numbers then because im so frustrated. 2 different shots with 2 very different distances. Shot 1 Ball Speed 153mph, Smash 1.45, Launch 14deg, Peak Height 95ft, landing angle 34deg, Carry 255yds total 290 yds, Curve 3ft Left, Offline 3yds Right. Shot 2 Ball Speed 162mph, Smash 1.45, Launch 14deg, Peak Height 95ft, landing angle 36deg, Carry 247yds total 271 yds, Curve 68ft Left Offline 6 yds Left. As you can see the shorter carry had 10Mph more ball speed and both shots were a draw, so not like it was a high floaty fade.

  2. Mark, excellent video. Many times you must risk it and change things to ever improve and get better. Great points about how to actually take the risk, change your intent, change your technique, and improve your driver game. Thanks for the video.

  3. For me, I noticed my weight shift forward that begins just before the end of the backswing and into the downswing is far more important than how hard my swing is for max distance

  4. Forget the driver and just use your 3wood .The driver is not a club for everyone ,just a difficult club to master and you must find one with the right shaft ,shaft length and loft that suits you ,and that means spending money to find your gamer Just what the golf companies want you to do ,buy the latest and greatest New driver .You loose 10_15yards with a 3wood but it is a much better fairway finder

  5. Excellent information as always. The very best on YT by miles. I started using the Stack System a while ago and your right about the dispersion… I’m just as accurate as before I increased my Swing speed

  6. You cannot get around basic club head speed, that the determining factor overall. Speed training and mobility work/strength training, there's no short cuts to this imho and you can't wait to gain speed by just concentrating on technique as speed training is a constant training programme if you've already a basic level of fitness, just the same as a weight training programme for building muscle size/strength. If you lapse for any length of time you'll regress backwards. Gaining measured speed usually results in better technique as a by-product anyway. Totally agree about intent 👍

  7. At last a video that’s not just selling a gadget, like your coaching videos, but the gadgets are sold by all and sundry. I have lessons and practice, don’t need some gadget that either clicks or pings stuff to my phone.

  8. I'm swinging harder these days…watching Ernie Els growing up made me swing too slow trying to emulate him…then we entered the prov1 era and the ever increasing size of driver heads and better shaft quality…now you can swing all out without worrying so much about side spin…I think generically courses are a bitter wider and rough is not grown out as much…the goal is too hit it as far as possible on most courses, go find it and do it again. The advent of cheap slo mo cameras, swing monitors and better instruction has turned the game into a battle for distance.

  9. As I lay here with a sprained lat and a misaligned rib, please DONT swing out of your boots unless you have trained the movement and properly stretched beforehand.

  10. Thank you for a great video, Mark. As one fun component of my mid-life crisis, I've been speed training (with the 3 weighted speed sticks and radar) for about 6 weeks now. A couple of questions: Is it true that part of this is just losing inhibition as much as physically training? Also, I seemed to have plateaued. I started with the light club top speed going up from 117 mph to 126 mph almost exactly 1 mph/session. I hit 130 and 128 and since then I'm back to 126 and and no upward movement. My max Trackman ball speed has gone from 152 mph to 158 mph, which were both outliers at the time–average was probably 149 before and 154 after. Top club head speed has gone from 106 to 109, swinging out of the shoes. Anyway, I was hoping to get a 'good drive' average around 160 mph before the end of the summer.

  11. Mark , thank you so much . I knew I was doing something wrong with my driver at impact . I believe I am adding too much loft and having a slight open face causing too much spin. I’ve never had it explained before like that.

I have a question though , would recommend a take away like a iron, once you hit half way , the club resembles your spine angle and you naturally cock wrist at top of back swing to create the power ? And try to keep that wrist angle the whole time. ?

  12. I think the key to this advice is getting points 1 and 2 in place before introducing the speed, but as soon as you've got that technique down not being afraid to explore with speed?

I feel like I'm on the cusp of trying to introduce speed but still want that pat pat safe swing a lot of the time on the course. I'll definitely start over training straight away though.

  13. Hi Mark Just saw this. You are right, It appears contrary to what I have been told . Hold off on release and and flick at the end almost like a Badminton shot . Where does the speed come From? If you watch a tennis player they release at the top of a serve and put their body behind it help!
I agree with echambers 1112 your distance has increased amazingly .Please explain!

  14. Money… Thank goodness we have coaches like Mark to give us instruction on how to use the tools we need to have a better chance for the desired results! Great stuff bruh! This video deserves a few rewatches…

  15. Thanks Mark for the great content. With regards to the first 2 points….reducing loft and upwards angle of attack, I have practiced this with success, i have found the promised land of high bombs with the ball drawing. However I can't wrap my head around applying these concepts to hitting a more predictable fade. I can hit a fade, but I feel like Im reverting to the very swing I wanted to get away from, spinning higher and less energy transfer…..any tips for this?

  16. Good stuff Mark. Personally, I will take a wedge from the rough over a 3w from the fairway any day so for me it's grip it and rip it. On holes where I don't think i can do that safely I usually just don't play driver lol. Intent is so huge and so overlooked.

  17. Try telling my buddy all this and stuff. He's a good golfer but only hits it like 220 average and he could easily be hitting 260 or more. Outside in path, downward strike. All arms. He cries that he can't hit it far then I tell him to speed train and give him these same tips. He takes 6 swings, club path gets better. Attack angle gets better. Speed gets better but dispersion is terrible. I tell him to stop worrying about that right now. He quits after maybe ten swings tops and then starts complaining he can't hit it far. Oh well. If he wants to hit mid irons into par 4s rather than short irons and wedges that's his prerogative.

  18. Really like the message of intent. At 52 I’m guilty of playing within a slower mind set that at times lacks commitment to the shot. Also Mark any chance of sorting out the black power cord for the GC quad monitor? Spent over 3 minutes trying to get rid of what I thought was a stray black hair off the screen of my phone til I realised it was the power cord 😲😁. Felt like a right noddy🤘🏻🇦🇺

  19. Thanks Mark – Exactly what I need (hopefully!) – My arccos data says my driving is my weak spot and I have a cheap monitor on the way. I'm looking forward to letting loose but I already have a bit of overswing and early loss of angles – will maxing out itent not make those mechanics worse!!??

  20. When it’s all said and done Mark will be known as someone who understands the golf swing better than any other professional out there. While others are busy chasing views and fame Mark has been studying and studying the golf swing to no end. I have been a subscriber for over 10 years, you Mark deserve much more. Hopefully one day you’ll get the recognition you deserve. I appreciate and love your content.

  21. Ive had the same result from my speed work. I can swing as hard as I like and I actually hit the ball straighter than when I'm trying to control things. May look pretty wild, but with practice, you can still strike the ball well with a near maximum effort.

  22. One thing to add to this analysis is that for driver especially, strike should ideally be a little bit high and toward the toe. This not only will automatically increase effective clubhead speed, but also effective launch angle. So the player doesn't have to "try" as hard to "hit up" on the ball, because they are getting extra loft just from the position of the ball on the face. Finally, hitting higher and toward the toe will also decrease spin, further maxing out the energy put into the swing.

  23. You really need to look at the new gen YouTube model of matches against other top YouTubers, challenges (break par at X etc). You are so much better than most of the rest you just need to optimize haha
