Glad I stayed for the bloopers 😂
Every Nickleback song is bad 🙂
Most people yapping landrovers and Germany cars are unreliable.. they have never owned any of them.. they go with the bandwagon of old mechanics… Evey car can be unreliable when not taken care off..
Are the newer Land Rovers any more reliable to then the older models? Any opinions?
2011 L322 here with 100k miles. Had a lot of work to do on it when we bought it in June but it's been a treat since…. Timing chain is always at the back of my mind though.
Loved this video so much!
Honestly the lr4 gets an undeserved bad rap . The chain issue is because of stupid oil change intervals. And light oil . I have 11 lr4 5.0 it’s really a nicer lr3 which I had a 05 that had 256k when I replaced it . I would recommend a 4 any day if you know it’s history! The 3.0 sc is more problematic than the 5.0 and you want a 4 that has a shifter not the knob style
I completely understand.
Every nickelback song is bad
My cabin and map light buttons stopped working just before I watched this on my 24 defender. 😂
Had no issues at all with my 2022 Defender in over two years use in my business.
Vehicle used all day, every day and also towed my trailer (caravan) many times.
My l322 I’ve owned since new( 2002 ), is still going and I have driven 250k , 3 gearboxes, and a couple of air suspension fixes the car is amazing , I absolutely relate to when you say labour of love , I drive mine to Spain every summer for the last 20 years and love everything about it .its not my daily anymore as I bought the new defender (amazing) but I will do everything I can to keep the car going ❤
the bloopers… GOLD !!!!
Then why does every Land Rover owner have a diagnostic tool in the glovebox?
I don't have a clue where my ODB port is on my Toyota.
I heard that there is a rule at LR : they have to build every 8th car with faults from factory, so people wont have to stop complaining about reliability. its just to keep people happy
Very wise to limit drives to flat smoothe prairie tracks with plenty of tractors to tow you home.
Can I add ‘like subscribe’ to the crutch word list. Really yanks me out of the narrative whenever I hear it. Suddenly I’m not a viewer but a commodity. I know it has to be done, people have to make a living, but once is good. More than that is um, well, you know, a total pain in the awesome.
Currently on my 4th Discovery (series 2, 3 and 4), and enjoy every km in it and not any more worse reliability than any other car I owned. Love my LR's.
Thank you for making this video. I had previously stopped watching this channel due to the somewhat populist and 'cheap' approach in earlier videos, but you really did well with this one. Land Rover deserves the recognition. And Yes I can confirm that the New Defender is incredible and the best car I've ever owned.
I've owned just about every brand of car and own a business with over 50 fleet vehicles and I will tell you that I absolutely love land rovers. I currently have a 21 Range Rover with the supercharged 5.0 and it is heaven to drive. These cars really do have a soul.
Trying to be funny now? 🙄 Not working.
Tommy, you are well on your way to becoming one of the great car reviewers! Your quick wit, clear and fast speaking, and on point analogies remind me of Clarkson. It’s been fun to watch you really grow into this role over the years!
Never a good sign when a “reliable” one is considered a unicorn rather than the rule and EVERY reliability / owner survey have them well and truly at the bottom of the list.
Nothing wrong with a rover V8. The P38 is riddled with electrical problems.
Overheating of a rover V8 is almost always due to lack of decent maintenance.
Same with the Freelander, ok they had head gasket issues but they can be upgraded. The timing belt …. Well change it more often, again, lack of maintenance.
Disco 3 and 4's can have crankshaft failures and a few issues they can have are body off jobs …
Landrover LR2 that came before the sport is reliable as well
You know what, it is ABOUT f-ING TIME YOU GUYS SAID THIS. here here ! It's true, the Defender is reliable. Hell has frozen over.
I can't even believe that you are defending Land Rover after your experience with the base model last year…
As a Land Rover Mechanic for the past 18 Years in Africa I can attest to your Video that the LR3/Range Rover Sport with the AJV8 is the BEST AND MOST RELIABLE LAND ROVER ON EARTH
@2.42 so what your saying is, Stellantis is the modern day BL? 😂
I think I might have bought a dud…..I have a 11 year old Range Rover V8 Supercharged (the proper RR, not the Sport)….It has given me absolutely ZERO problems, I have not even changed the battery yet….
I have an LR4 facelift. 115,000 miles and counting 0 problems
Land rover in the best suv
Best Land Rovers are probably the M52 Defender from South Africa and a Jag engine L322.
yes they get a bad rap…Land Rover = safari life
How can you show such a dirty engine compartment? If you keep it clean and tidy you'll find issues early 🙂
Everything in design now has a shelf life unfortunately due to capitalism.
Not just Land Rover, even our beloved Japanese brands, my worst experience with cars, has been with new model toyotas, lambos, audis etc
We bought a LR Discovery brand new in 2003. Owned it for 10 years and only had 2 issues. The driver’s power window broke and the rear door lock/latch failed. Other than that it was completely reliable and was a fun vehicle to drive.
How exactly is 250k miles without a rebuild a lot for a 4.4L V8? 😂
Maybe that's impressive for Land Rover standards…? 😜🤭
For comparison’s sake, the 4.7-liter V8 in the 2nd generation Toyota Tundra will easily eat up ½ million miles; there are several instances with over a million miles on the original engine (and one with the original transmission too).
Damn, there are several verified cases of Toyota Prius with more than 1/2 million miles on the odometer (engine maintenance only, no rebuilds). We're talking about 4 cyl 1.8L and even 1.5L engines here… 😂
Quite the feat that a 4.4L V8 can reach ½ of that mileage… 😂
Most points agreed with, however two points of disagreement: one being the 70"s to early 90's being unreliable years, very subjective as the Defender was introduced as a replacement to the Series Vehicles and very reliable to say the least, not to mention the Disco 1. Additionally the original Range Rover (not a brand people, its a model), which is now known as the Classic, and was a solid build and introduced in 1970. Second point- most if not all LR4 , a long with the LR3's were equipped with a Jaguar AJ-V8, not a Ford, and it has absolutely nothing in common with the Explorer. Outside of that, spot on, as the Land Rover is the car which conquered the world! Having driven these vehicles on several continents, I can attest to their reliability and with the older versions, minus the P38, their simplicity! Not to mention their off-road capabilities, which are so much more than the Colorado Mall Crawling Grocery Carts known as Jeeps. Plus you don't need 40,000 bucks of "Afghani Jingle Truck" upgrades to make it capable, but I digress! Cheers guys, keep up the solid content!!!
