  1. Truly an odyssey. Held me entranced from the beginning. Beautifully constructed, profoundly compelling narrative. Immersive to the point of bringing tears to my eyes. So glad this came up in my feed. Highly recommend. Worth every second.

  2. 'There's nothing aristocratic about me at all'. This guy does not have an accurate image of himself. He naturally has all the good qualities of an aristocrat, I just wish he wouldn't talk so formally all the time.

  3. What an utterly fascinating story. These stories typically are, but this one is as fascinating as some of my other favorites: Sir Ian McKellan and Sir Patrick Stewart.

  4. each time he choked up, I recognized that feeling it is an odd form of grief when one experiences details about someone who has gone before without the ability to look them in the eye, knowing, but not knowing it’s adding to the family simultaneous with losing a family member it’s very hard to define. as I have done my own paternal and maternal histories, I have experienced this frequently, but never so much as when you lay your hand upon something that they laid their hand upon like Nora’s diary

  5. Wow what a moving story. Glad he got to know his dad. My brother just found out we are 1/2 siblings and apparently his dad lives about an hour and a half south of me. He wrote to him hopefully they can meet soon.

  6. I wish someone will post more about the Futvoye family in Belgium. According to the internet, Spa back in those days was a luxury social hub for the extremely wealthy and powerful families, but there is no records anywhere on the internet besides the ones from WDYTYA.
