After putting in an advance on an artist, of maybe R1mln cash, the other costs that record labels need to recoup are:
– Music videos
– Studio rentals
– Band payments
– Head office costs
– Transportation
– Distribution
– Marketing
Some record labels also rent a house and cars for artists. And use some of the profits to invest in more artists.
It would be so much more educational if record labels were transparent with their costs of operations.
a general problem in our country is that people do not read the terms and conditions…or at least ask for a clear briefing on them
Now these artists come up with nothing, hungry and desperate, very young and just hear amounts of money being said in the room. This is probably their only chance at making it.
Instant gratification has been killing us black people for the longest now
That's a problem with record labels. Just scamming artist
Modern day slavery, our beloved artist r being exploited
Liked and Subscribed! This was a masterclass in the music business. You should consider
and I'm serious heredoing a TEDTalk or writing a book about this. This was concise but incredibly informative.Am a Nigerian Brenda and lucky dube music help my childhood
The Artists are also part of the problem. Why Don't they LEARN from Other People's Mistakes????
I side with the Record Labels, It's a Business. The Artist Better Style Up, And STOP Going for Quick Money only to Cry that they have been scammed or Broke.
They all signed the contract hey they should get paid according to their contract
Subscribed, keep on making these videos please 📍⭐️
Bro please do more videos like this … exposing record labels and how they exploit artists
I thought Die Antwoord was a HUGE South African group? Or is all their success due to western society and/or culture and they aren't popular or well liked in South Africa?? Just curious is all.
I heard her song in Nigerian back in the 90s
Freedom is coming tomorrow the artist must be free
TThe south african media is run by gay guys from radio to tv to events. They use the media to mediate ideas into the public and taunt their victims. They steal from young artists and infact they control all of south africas media, all the way to google news, opera mini news, youtube and shareit etc. The illuminati is one word but faggots describes your south african media much more descriptively.
A music career is short like any other business save invest while the sun is shining the biggest problem is financial mismanagement
Its not only a south african thing .
Its world wide , but very bad in South Africa
Iyooo this guy is good, keep it up man👌
Memeza was released in 1998 when platinum was 50,000 gold 25,000
Bongani said his mother probably made R100 million, but was robbed and I believe him.
Please 🙏 upload the rest of the video- it ends abruptly as you introduce the artist signing new deals with competitors
